Hi All, Always great to have an Introduce Yourself Weekend! I've been looking through a box of photos I found recently that I have not opened in years - many envelopes with random photos from movies that I have worked on. This one I attached was a photo of me as I said "Action" for this shot on Reno 911: Miami. I still am in awe at what it takes to put all this together and that I got to say the word that put it into action. Practical Effects (Special effects), Transportation, the city of Miami, so many people involved besides the cast and crew! I was the 1st AD, the directors who were also cast members generally had me call Action because they were in the scenes. Fun times with lots of big moments!

Good to meet you Xochi. What a great find on a good show. Indeed, it takes a village. I have a background in film/tv editing. We're always glad to receive and then work on the footage reflecting hard work and care by the production crew. Congrats on your accomplishments!

That's fun Xochi, though I must say I'm a little confused by the show's name. :/

Suzanne Bronson - ha, well they went to Miami for a conference - but of course things didn't work out like they planned. :)

Xochi Blymyer That’s such a great behind-the-scenes perspective. I think moments like this really remind people how filmmaking is this massive collaboration made up of hundreds of moving parts that audiences rarely think about while watching the final scene.
And honestly, being the person who calls “Action” on something that large-scale must feel surreal, especially knowing everything that has to align in that exact moment cast, effects, transportation, timing, energy, all of it.
Also, Reno 911!: Miami is such a chaotic and memorable film to have been part of. Sounds like an incredible experience and definitely the kind of memories worth rediscovering in old photo boxes.

nice to meet you , I’m Shawn . I remember those shows . 80’s baby / 90’s kid here. I have a screenplay. I’m writing a movie It’s a true life story about my life and it’s dedicated to a famous hockey star that personally helped me in life before he ended his life in 2021. He was on the “miracle on ice” team.
that looks like quite the explosion in that picture. It looks really great.

Xochi Blymyer - this is incredibly cool. How long did you and your crew have to set up that day before you yelled ACTION on this amazing moment? What all went into it?

Thanks everybody! Totally fun along with some hard work but this one definitely got a big cheer when done. Sam Sokolow great question - long before we started filming - during prep - locations department had to get all the Miami people together - film commission, bridge controllers, police and all to come up with the plan. Had to be decided on which day. Had to plan all the necessary people to lock everywhere around up since sort of stops traffic when this happens. Then we had to plan the vehicles and special effects would have figured out how to explode safely - transportation would find the vehicle and take out parts that shouldn't explode. :). The day was built around all of these elements. The cast had to be planned for and make sure they are available on the day the bridge is available. I believe the whole movie was 20 days (if my memory is correct) and so it was half in Miami and half in and around Los Angeles - not a lot of wiggle room on all of this - besides having other locations in Miami to work around - like the room the emergency people go if there's a hurricane is what we used - but if a storm came - we'd lose that location. We shot on the beach exploding a whale and then we also drove police cars down the walking path in the shopping area and I believe there was a mansion party. Quite the busy location and like Tetris with many departments! So the short answer is A lot went into it!
