Screenwriting : Just got a Double Recommend ...but now what? by Jen Winters

Just got a Double Recommend ...but now what?

For anyone else who has picked up a Double Recommend on the platform, how did you best leverage that momentum to get read requests or query representation?

Jen Winters

I would love to hear anyone's stories of how they used it. :)

Robert Zwerneman

Cool beans Jen. Move over Aaron Sorkin, there's a new kid in town.

Leonardo Ramirez

Hi Jen Winters - congratulations on your double recommend! AND..this is a great question. I think a DR will mean different things to different people. Outside of the platform, there will be execs (not directly working with S32) who won't know what it is.

ALL Stage 32 execs obviously know what it means and this places you on their radar. Everyone here on the platform knows what it means. This translates to building relationships with directors and producers on the platform that both parties can benefit from. An example of this was a comment thread that I was a part of where an esteemed colleague reached out and we began to dialogue along with an actor. That relationship led to a short which is now in development.

Outside of that, a DR hasn't yielded much with respect to consults and pitching because my genres (sci-fi and fantasy) are expensive to produce. This is why I've moved to grounded work. Yours are more grounded which may lead to more. So all that to say, there are different aspects to each individual where this might yield more and others less. Either way, it's a great achievement.

As an aside, I checked out your work and it's incredibly interesting. When my mom passed away last year, I started to become more and more intrigued by near-death experiences and what they report. All the best with your work!

Leonardo Ramirez, thank you for the great information! Although I wrote the original screenplay as a feature 20 years ago, I was completely out of the screenwriting world until about two years ago when I adapted it into a novel and then a TV pilot. I'm definitely feeling a little lost on the mechanics of how the industry side of things works now, so I really appreciate the insight

You are very welcome Jen Winters Learning this business will likely be a life-long journey so I’m right there with you.

Getting a DR is one of my 2026 goals, so nice work, Jen Winters . I hope it puts you in the fast lane, so to speak! Please keep us updated on how you progress.

Did it come from a manager or a Producer?

Amy Kolquist

Congratulations! Nice job and way to put in the work! Thanks for asking the question and I look forward to seeing how it goes. I don't have any insight for you, as I haven't had that happen, but I'm excited to see how it goes for you and how you use the momentum!

Jen Winters

Thomas Lake, it came from a manager.

Erin Leigh

Congrats! So the Double Recommend isn't something I dwell on, but I do briefly mention it in the written pitch materials for the script, and I inserted the badge (very small!) beside the image on the "other projects" pages in my other pitch decks. My decks are linked to my bio if you want to see this in action. :)
