I love introducing myself on these!
I’m Alicia McClendon, and I’m a screenwriter, actor, and producer. I write, fund, and act in my own short films! Now I have a feature film in development titled THE WOMAN WHO KNOWS, which is a gripping psychological thriller in the PoV of a chronically and mentally unwell disabled woman thrown into a murder mystery when her husband’s mistress is found deceased.
THE WOMAN WHO KNOWS entertains with suspense and drama while shining light on mental health, disability, and chronic illness like fibromyalgia, disorders that affect me.
If anyone has made a feature film on an ultra low budget, please get in contact with me so I can pick your brain. I only have $23,000 for this film! Goal? Minimum of $100,000.
Oh! Subscribe to my newsletter too to support me and keep up with what I’m doing!
Let’s chat too.

You're welcome, Alicia McClendon. The title and tagline are catchy, and the film deals with important issues that a lot of people face.

Having $23K already committed gives you something concrete to build from. Are you planning to use that toward a proof of concept and packaging first, or put the full amount directly into the feature while raising the remaining budget?

Welcome back, and it's great to see a writer who is funding and acting in their own shorts while developing a feature that draws from your lived experience, because that perspective gives the story a specific weight. What's the most important lesson you've learned from making your own short films that you're applying to this feature?

Zoltán Varga Im going to keep raising but I plan to do a proof of concept (a remake) and I believe it’ll help with crowdfunding!

Samantha Rivera You get what you spend. I had to learn that the hard way.

Hi Alicia,
It's great to meet you. Congratulations on developing THE WOMAN WHO KNOWS. The concept sounds compelling, and I really admire that you're drawing from your own experiences to tell a meaningful psychological thriller.
I work with writers and screenwriters on story development, so I always enjoy connecting with creators who are passionate about bringing original stories to life. I also help creators prepare professional presentation materials, including screenplay title pages, pitch decks, and other visual assets that help present a project to producers and investors.
Wishing you all the best as you move the project forward, and I hope you reach your funding goal.
Looking forward to staying connected!
Best,
Elizabeth
