Success Stories: AUG'20 The dreamer

W. Paul Hughes

The dreamer

When 9/11, the Twin Tower terrorist assault on "my country" happened, I truly got p*ssed off, very! I'd never written a screenplay but I knew I was supposed to script a movie project to tell the world who we truly are as a nation. I studied about writing screenplays for six months, I especially recall reviewing ALIEN. Crap, I thought, I can't do that, it looks all mumbo-jumbo:) On my birthday, in March of 2002, I set down at my computer and genuinely wept. What was I endeavoring to do...? I wrote, cried, looked at the Screenwriters Bible (a great educator tool) and wrote some more. I had the first draft written in 32 days. It looked like crap but... Man, did I ever want to make that movie. As you may deduce, it's been 10 freaking long painful re-writing rejecting years. Hey world, kiss my butt; when they taugt the class in scool about QUITTING, I was out that day; hey world, I'd been in a freakin war, I'm a Warrior. What do you know, I had an invitation to join something called Stage 32. Who are these people, I thought. As a result of my joining and pondering, I connected with a beautiful lady from London. She loved what she had reviewed on my Profile Page. She too was considering reviewing my script. Ultimately, I get an email from another beautiful director who works with a major industry studio and made several movies (no names, sorry), from the CANNES film festival inviting me to send her my script. "I'm looking for something for my next "major project" she said. She too liked what she had reviewed on my Profile Page. I sort of went into overload with visions of Oscar, casting, scores... yeah, and probable rewrites. There's no closure yet, but my FREAKIN SCREENPLAY IS IN REVIEW. It'll happen people. Believe, dream big and never quit. You all are sooo loved. PEACE. Thank you STAGE 32. Paul,

LB McGill

It is stories like these that give a person a true drive to keep going for your dream, and knowing that the hard work does pay off, is one of the greatest feelings of accomplishment! Very happy for you! Thanks again for posting and best of luck in all you do!

Charles Bukowski

That's amazing, I so want my story to be like yours is. I want to get my script in review and then made lot of times.
