Martin I know - but its a business like any other business. I look at it this way - its free, I put as little as possible personal information on there and it has helped me immensely with networking. Its like a relationship too - you take the good with the bad. I don't pay any of the extra stuff, but it has still helped me a lot. About $5K I made last year was with networking with people on Facebook and it didn't cost me a dime. I don't use google plus but I do use twitter a little. The networking with people in the business is not the same I have found. Everyone has something that works for them though! Thanks for the feedback! :)
