I have recently bought the nikon D800 and it's great!
Though its not under 1000 pounds- the t4i is though and it has great reviews!

The Canon EOS5D Mark II is one of the best cameras you can get for your purposes. Even some Hollywoodproduction where shot on this one.

I'm sure you can look up Nikons and Panasonics on the same website. Research them on YouTube before you buy.

The Panasonic GH2 does real wonders. Its image has been praised by industry veteran like F.F. Coppola and Shane Carruth just shot a full feature with it with a mind blowing results for a sub $700 cam.
Hard to find the discontinued GH2 anymore. But a good suggestion. The Canon EOS5D Mark II is a fine camera but above Poppy's price range - the body alone is £1,600.

Hi Poppy, canon 7d is best but your budget under 1000 dollars.please increase your budget.

I love my Canon 5d mark II. You can get great deals on the body (especially since the mark III came out) and rent lenses as projects come up...Takes great pics and vid.
I heard the canon 7d overheats? plus you miss out on a viewfinder go with 60d :)
I'd suggest T4i and the rest of the cannon rebel stuff. All of them are fairly similar, most take good video or photos, although, you may need to invest in a good lens if you want to get all you can out of it.
