Hey Justin. What happened with the Agent?

A good number of us got fed up with her inactivity and false promises and left after the contract was up. For now, I'm focusing on the books again.

Sometimes it's better not to have one. I have been published almost nine years, and managed to balance half my bank account with my sales. Wish I made more, but I'm doing pretty good.

WAH-HOO! Congratulations Kathryn and Leon! I'm so happy for both of you. Well done. :)

Do you have a literary agent? If so, are they any good? I was looking for a new one myself.

I never saw any point to having a literary agent after finding a niche on Kindle, I briefly had this Film/TV agent for year and she did nothing for her clients.

Why did you dump your agent?

She wasn't doing anything for her clients and a good number of us have now dropped her.

Yeah! Does help to have an agent who actually does something for you.

Aren't agents and managers just supposed to take your money, and do nothing except laugh at you? (Much like the IRS!) ;-)

Agents and managers are a powerful asset, but they're no good if they can't help. My manager spot has been open for a couple of years, but i'll only sign again with someone who knows what they're doing, and someone who knows how to use what i have. Leon's right, they have to believe in what you have.

Agents/managers can be valuable assets - if they are working hard for you. But it's very difficult to get them until you have an established track record.

I think it would be worthwhile to get them to put together a "marketing plan" for you, if they are willing to do so. The plan would detail who they will contact and how often they will follow up.

John, Kathryn and I could probably guess who that agent was. We might be wrong, but the person we know sounds very similar.

Agents are a valuable thing. .until they're not and then you owe it to yourself and your time and talent to go looking for an agent who will work for you and with you. Sometimes you got to sleep around before the wedding bells ring.

She was based out of New Orleans and tried a failed expansion into Los Angeles.
