I've noticed that under the Job section of stage32 categorized as "Seeking Screenwriters", a bunch of screenwriters are trying to promote their own screenplays. I personally see this as clogging up the search for a job as a screenwriter, because as a writer I now have to scroll through a ton of post from screenwriters looking for posts that are actually "seeking" screenwriters. I don't mean to be forward, but this seems to be a desperate reach for writers and I think it gives us a bad name. I believe that people/companies who post jobs are not scrolling through the job section that they have left their post in. Would they not just post what they are looking for and then wait for a response? If a producer is looking for a screenplay, wouldn't they just look under the "Seeking Producer" section, the same section where screenwriters should be promoting their script. Well that is the end of my rant. Sorry for bothering everyone, I'm just really tired of looking for a screenwriting job opportunity and all I see is people promoting their own scripts. More power to them for finding an outlet for their work, but desperation is not a good odor for a writer.

That is definitely not what the JOBS section is intended for Steven. Can you send a few specific examples (links) to Julie@stage32.com - I want to nip this in the bud.
I sent her a few links. I didn't scroll through as much as I did last night, though (I scrolled through the posts for about an hour last night). To be honest this problem probably didn't clog the feed as mush as I was suggesting (though it was still evident that there were more of these posts than there should be), but it being 1 am after a long day, and all I wanted to do was possibly submit a few of my screenplays to a few directors/producers... I might have gotten a little more frustrated than I should have. ^_^
I completely agree, Alle. I personally try not to point out peoples ignorance, but it gets rather tough after seeing so much of it. I see myself as a talented writer, yet I don't go around trying to sell my script with a side of desperation. Yes, I would like to see my stories come to life and firmly believe that they deserve the chance, but I try to stick to venues that are looking for scripts; not force my scripts in front of someone. If it happens, it will happen in the way it was meant to. I feel that if I try to force it, the story will not get the appreciation that it wants and needs to flourish into its full capacity.

Looked at them. One was someone pushing their wares. That was deleted. The others were legit. In fact, one was actually a director seeking a screenwriter. I'll chalk it up to the late hour ;)

I'll take that hit, RB. It didn't help that the descriptions in the posts were lacking the full content of their search. But that's none of my business, I suppose. Thanks for pointing these out to me.

No worries, Steven. We have little tolerance for the spammers or the self promoters who try to game the system.

Very simple, Alle. Report them to info@stage32.com - We have a Zero Tolerance Policy for spamming. Feel free to send us the repeat offenders.

It curious how many folks try to be crafty like that. How is offering your own work to other screenwriters crafty though? That's like auditioning for other actors.
