Ray informs Rick and their superior Nancy Connor about the situation and that a cop (Ryder) has a hit on him but is unaware who and as she and Rick and Ray try to find out who, Ryder finds himself the target of several hitman and potential killers now investigating who put the hit on him. As time goes on, Drayke manages to kill a few informants and witnesses and helps Banks’s ring grow. Meanwhile Ryder and Joey find a gangster named Briggs and use him to locate a potential sting with Rick and Ray and Briggs’ gang is arrested, who admits he heard of a hit on Ryder but does not know who. Ryder and Miko have Saya acquire the FBI files they find Drayke and realize it’s him, and the truth is revealed.
Years ago, Ryder and Drayke used to be students and classmates who used to study karate under Miko’s father Hido Himura, only while Ryder respected the rules and how to use karate properly, while Drayke abused martial arts to make himself look tough, and show off, he would even scare off new students if he did not like it, and would make up excuses to get away with it, and was helped by a few students like a fat kid named Dilan Markie. Ryder and Miko would try to get him to go straight as Hido had rules against using Karate to bully others but when they crossed the line they told Hido and while he was disappointed, he understood their position, and expelled Drayke and suspended his allies, and welcomed the new students. Then after winning a tournament Ryder, Miko and his friends encountered the suspended and Drayke who blamed them for his situation and tried to take revenge on them and while Ryder holds his own, Hido arrives and with the police and Drayke is arrested with Dilan who along with the others are expelled, and Drayke swore revenge.
Realizing that Drayke’s hit on Ryder is a personal vendetta and not a professional thing, Ryder enlists the FBI to track down Drayke once and for all. Drayke confronts Hido who mourns that his former student learned nothing, only how to fight and how to use karate but failed to learn why and when he had to fight and use karate and is injured in a fight where Drayke fights dirty. Banks finds out about the personal vendetta and tries to turn against Drayke and is killed. Eventually Ryder, Joey, Rick and Ray track down Drayke and find him with Dilan and the expelled students, and while Ryder and Drayke speak of their past and Ryder tries to convince his old friend that he is responsible for his downfall, Drayke continues to blame Ryder, and they fight and Drayke’s gang is defeated and as Drayke tries to kill Ryder but is killed. With Drayke and his gang gone, Ryder returns home to his family.
