About James

Not to be confused with the fine actor of the same name, I was born in Amityville, NY, again linking me to film history. My love of movies and entrepreneurial spirit led me to own a small video store specializing in obscure and hard-to-find films, and of course, Hollywood's best. However, it was soon clear that I had my own stories to tell.

I earned the nickname "Doc" in film school, where I often performed surgery on my fellow student's shorts. After finishing school, I made the move to Los Angeles to begin my career as a writer/director.

Within a few months I had written my first feature screenplay, the highly-regarded Vietnam Vet ghost drama entitled "Journey to Now" – which soon led to hired work in the horror genre.

My directorial debut 'Trespasses', a tightly contained suspense thriller shot on Super-16, had several successful screenings on the festival circuit, including the San Francisco Independent Film Festival.

With eleven scripts notched on my belt, I have developed a unique thematic voice across many genres, writing stories that have passionate followings.
