SHAKINGTHEWIND PROMOTIONAL

I am able to stand on the street corner one block from where mama used to preach with the street preachers gang tomorrow. I am presenting an excerpt from my show #ShakingTheWind about surviving fanaticism, my mama, and my brainwashing.

Mama "did the best she could" to raise me. Whatever insecurities she had about herself were passed on into my life. In remembering the confusion I can straighten it out for myself. Now that I am a mother...I can see what it is to pass on strength and weaknesses. As a woman, knowing strength and how to access strength begins with power. Without the power to see my own needs I would never be able to identify the weaknesses I have inherited and would unconsciously pass to my daughter. I am grateful for time and experience. Every mark on my body is a stripe of achievement.

I was looking for my mother's grave on the one year anniversary of her death. The only way I could find it was to locate the marker she bought for my uncle. It was powerful to see that, even in death, she had made room for someone else but not herself. She is buried next to his marker...he is still alive as of this posting 6/16/15.

A portion of an aria audition; from Verdi's Macbeth.

Got clipped off from the beginning. A singing gal am I! I will think about posting the complete version later. This is my test submission for a television audition. Tell me what you think!!
