About Kathleen

I am a highly experienced Drama Exec, with an extensive and successful track record. During my time at ITV Studios, I produced two major prime time continuing drama series (Emmerdale and Heartbeat), whilst also developing a range of new projects, from comedy to multi-platform dramas.

Having worked on over 2500 episodes of continuing drama output, I have sharp storytelling instincts and terrific analytical skills about narrative drive. This gives me a unique edge as a drama producer. My reputation in this field has lead to me being asked to troubleshoot a number of shows, to resounding success each time. I have story consulted and story produced three of UK's long running shows - River City, EastEnders and Hollyoaks.

As a creative, I am able to combine my editorial abilities with contributing fresh and original ideas. I have a number of my own original drama series projects in development.

During the three years I Series Produced the show, Emmerdale had some of its highest profile storylines, which were recognised in 2006 by an RTS award for Best Soap and by three consecutive BAFTA nominations (2006-2009).

Asking ITV Digital to help create an online extension for a major whodunit storyline, led to an incredible collaboration with Hoodlum on the award winning and innovative Emmerdale Online Channel. This broadband online offering was the first of its kind, for both UK viewers and ITV Studios. Despite being pre-social networking, the channel was a great success, bringing unprecedented traffic to .

The Emmerdale Online Channel won the Broadcast Digital Channel Award in 2008 for "Best Use of Interactive" and the Horizon Interactive Gold Award 2008 for "Recognition for Excellence in Interactive Media Production". It was also nominated for an International Interactive Emmy Award, RTS Award and BAFTA.

I am also a public speaker, workshop host and mentor. I have spoken at two TedX days, links will be added to website soon, and mentor for the Glasgow University Screenwriting M.A.
