Excleelent post, Andre!

It sounds like you and I had similar childhoods. I grew up in a small New Jersey town and was raised on Creature Feature and Hammer films.

I remember seeing SWAMP THING in the theater and feeling the same way. The director, Wes Craven, did something similar in his later film...

Wow! Congrats on your directorial debut, Desiree! It looks awesome. Thanks for sharing your inspirational journey with us at Stage 32!

Isn't #4 an inherently political point? Specifically, isn't "driving change, growth and improvement" in these days synonymous with pushing aspects of the progressive/radical agenda and fighting AGAINST the traditional values which had made our nation great?

Ken Foley

1) How is "driving change, growth, and improvement" inherently political or "radical" in anyway? Seriously? I can't wait to hear your explanation. ;

2) Happy Black History Month!

Mike Podesto

Thank you for engaging with my article. Happy Black History Month!

Note that "Lord of the Rings" and "Star Wars" were NOT built "from scratch" -- "Lord of the Rings" was built upon Wagner and Shakespeare (and ultimately ancient Viking and Anglo-Saxon mythology), and even "Star Wars" were a fusion of medieval Japanese mythology with the sci-fi works of Clarke and As...

Yes, because it was BLM supporters who planned the kidnapping, kangaroo trial, and execution of Michigan governor Gretchen W. Oh wait...

Dennis Kitainik

Nobody gives a flying fuck about that governor one way or the other -- and it WAS in fact BLM which BURNED MINNEAPOLIS TO THE GROUND (I've seen the pictures, that place now looks like Mogadishu!)

Rolando Gori

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Since I'm always at the post side of things, it's interesting to hear what happens in production. I also found it interesting to see how many similarities there are in our respective processes.

Donn Swaby

Thanks for reading my blog Rolando. Yes, post-production is it's own animal with similar challenges.

Ken Foley

Great article, Donn. Every word rings true to me. Wish I'd read it when I shot my Proof of Concept; it would've saved me a lot of trouble! Looking forward to seeing your work.

I became a group facilitator for NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) this past weekend.  There is a national

hotline number for people suffering from depression, suicidal thoughts, addiction, and other illnesses.  This is a tough business, but there is always help.  The number is 1-800-950-NAMI (6464) or info@nami.org..

Edward Skirtich

Hi Maria- Thank you for those kind words and great words of wisdom and encouragement. Yes- I'll keep going and thinking about the great things ahead. Thanks for sharing I feel better about things now. Thanks for your help. Sincerely- Ed Skirtich

Maria Johnsen

Hi Edward, that's the spirit, keep thinking positive. I keep looking and see if there are any American funding organizations who could help you with funding and financing your film. :-)

Edward Skirtich

Hi Wayne and Maria- Thanks for your support. Forward march- Ed Skirtich

Toby Tate

I'm with you. I learn pretty slowly myself :D

Let's face it. We artistic types soar with the stars far above the rest of the world and our logic has to knock a few of those stars out of the way to get us grounded again. Until next time.

Ken Foley

Great post as usual, Kory! When it comes to working in this business, you've gotten deeper inside my psyche than any doctor or friend has. I've bookmarked and reread them regularly! Looking forward to the next one.

Korey Pollard

Ken, sorry for the slow response. I have been off line. Thank you! Responses like this are the only reason I am doing this. Please keep in touch.

Edward Skirtich

Hi Corey- Thank you for sharing your story. It's tough for me , for no one wants to hang out with me after my theater projects and stuff. People say it's not personal, but everybody hangs out with everybody in Pittsburgh, PA. Okay- I have some physical challenges and such- they won't even talk to me...

Hi Ed. Congrats on your theater career! So sorry to hear about the flaky people you have to deal with. Hang in there! I wish you were in LA; you seem like an interesting creative to know. I grew up in...

Like wise ED, sorry to hear about the flakes. There are a lot of them in film. I understand that feeling. I experience it a ton too. That's why I volunteer my time to help others as much as possible. It provides the community I seek.

Joleene DesRosiers

Some really great things to think about here. Excellent post.

Ken Foley

Great article, Alexia! This is why I'm part of Stage 32. Just one question:

"You sit on the coach and you fire off your logline and pitch."

What would a coach be doing at a pitch session, and why would you want to sit on him? Wouldn't that kinda piss the agency off? ;-)

Alexia Melocchi

Yes sitting on a coach my be painful to the coach indeed :)

Very similar to the movie The John Carter 2012. The logline component needs to be redone. Let the main character be the emperor in the new world.

"Moon" meets "John Wick."

In the future, an interstellar mercenary plans to leave the hard life behind after one last job. But when he discovers his cargo is not what it seems, he is forced to take drastic measures.  Relentlessly pursued by both sides of the law, he finds himself ensnared in a deadly gambit for not only his survival, but humanity’s.

Roberto Vitale

This logline is very good, in fact one of the better ones I've read here. It is a little long, but that's okay, it's not a 'marketing logline' which is different. It does have the main parts: Protagonist, Goal, Antagonist/s. The Death Stakes need to be more clearly defined.

It seems to me that you need to uncover in the logline what kind of cargo in order to understand the danger for the main character and for the inhabitants of the earth.
