A FATHER'S LOVE
By Angela R. Camon

GENRE: Drama
LOGLINE: This is the story of the restoration of a father/daughter relationship amid many obstacles and difficulties that they work to overcome.

SYNOPSIS:

Michael is a hot-tempered, stubborn man who always wants his way. He is madly in love with the girl of his dreams, Rebecca. He asks her to marry him, but she is having mixed feelings about marrying him. She loves Michael, but she also loves Frank, her old high school sweetheart. After dating Frank for a while, she finds out that she is pregnant. She tries to persuade him to marry her, but he’s not ready because he is not as financially stable as Michael is. Rebecca desperately wants a father for her baby. Feeling overwhelmed by the possibility of being a single parent, she agrees to marry to Michael. After she and Michael get married, she reveals she is pregnant. Michael, however, is suspicious of when this baby was conceived. He asks for a paternity test which reveals that Frank is the father. This almost causes strife between Rebecca and Michael. Michael, however, agrees to stay because he truly does love Rebecca. He vows that he won’t love the child, but as a responsible adult, he’ll provide for it financially. In the meantime, she hears how Frank is now operating his own business and is successful. She sees him at a restaurant but can’t bring herself to approach him. She tells Bertha and Mattie she’s going to forget about Frank and move forward, praying that Michael will eventually love the child that is not his. But to no avail. Michael does not show any signs of fatherly affection towards her. He is an emotionally absent father who is verbally abusive to his daughter. In an effort to make her father proud and to prove to him that she is worthy of his love, she enters a writing contest. She is not successful in the contest. Michael is very disappointed with her failure and this leads Stacey to seek love in all the wrong places. With the help of Ms. Bertha, Stacey learns about Christ, His love and forgiveness. In the end, God uses her to demonstrate the power of His love and forgiveness to transform her father’s life.
