THE GHOST MACHINE
By Mark Morris

GENRE: Horror
LOGLINE:

A man, hopelessly in love, is trapped between life and death by a life-support machine that cannot heal him but will not let him die.  Denied peace, he becomes a furious entity, searching for the woman he loves while determined to exact his revenge on the doctors who are responsible.

SYNOPSIS:

(Adapted from the Novel by Thomas Page)

Daniel Forrester is a handsome, star salesman, forced to travel to a medical facility in a small town in the Rocky Mountains to test a revolutionary life support machine, LISA. The clinic doc- tors have a natural skepticism about the machine, ready to de- bunk it on technical, religious, and ethical grounds. One doctor, in particular, Dr. Jameson, is more concerned with Daniel, fearing that Daniel may discover and reveal his own shady past.

While in Colorado, Daniel meets and pursues Kate, a writer who is looking for a new relationship. But she is a hard case, her recent failed marriage having left her skeptical of men. As test- ing progresses on the life support machine, so too does Kate’s affection for Daniel.

A thousand miles away, Nora Stone, a gifted medium, inves- tigates a haunting. Her uncanny ability to communicate with restless ghosts ultimately connects a living family member with a dead one.

Although she does not yet suspect it, she will soon learn that the ghost she is investigating was created by the life support machine.

Dr. Jameson’s anxiety boils over as Daniel continues to probe his past as they conclude the testing. He sabotages a plane carrying Daniel. It crashes into the mountain face. The only hope for Daniel’s mangled body is for him to become the next occupant of the life support machine - which becomes a doorway to the other side of death.
