When is a movie and art and when is it simply a distraction? Can the two become one? Or are they always separate?

Never compromise. Even in the face of armageddon.
Anyone see the movie Life, yet? I did and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Wears its influences on its sleeve, but is that really a bad thing? Most stories we've seen before right? So long as it's interesting and done well, shouldn't that be applauded? What do you guys think?
What are some techniques or ways to motivate yourself, that you have found effective? When you work a full time non moviemaking job, have limited experience, knowledge, or connections? What keeps you going, knowing the odds are against you?
Passion. Period. Find it. Use it.

Whether it's positive feedback, a general meeting or placing in a contest, all these little things give me incentive to keep writing. And no matter what, I can't not write so what else am I gonna do?
Has anyone else checked out this crowdfunding campaign? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/piovesan/attack-of-the-cyber-octopuses
I've been following their SM posts, and am inspired by the everyday objects and techniques they used for their project. I'd love to work on a similar project one day, as I love sci fi.
I'm a huge Snyder fan. Loved Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. And I'm very hyped for JL. Anyone else excited?
Internet chatter has never been good for a Snyder film for years now. As Batman said, "Don't believe everything you hear!"
There's some sound sync problems, but this was a fun short to make. If anyone has time, would love feedback and critique. https://youtu.be/wW0-KLQyoS4

One is on youtube, the other is currently in post. I haven't submitted to any film festivals or anything because I did these shorts more as a "film school" for myself, since I can't afford the real thing. It was great experience, and a wonderful learning opportunity for me. I know I have a long ways to go to fulfill my dream of directing movies for a living, but I'm exited for the journey. There's nothing else I'd rather be chasing than this. I kind of feel out of place here amongst so many professionals, but I finally joined because I want to learn from the combined wisdom and experience here, and to help out anyone in any way I can, inspite of my inexperience.
Again, excited and looking forward to connecting.

This is a network for you, built by you. Like most things in life, the more you participate, the greater the rewards. We ask all new members to pay it forward by inviting 5 fellow creatives to the network and by spreading the word of Stage 32 through other social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The more creatives, the stronger the network. The stronger the network, the more opportunities.
Thanks for joining the movement and for being a part of this most talented and inspiring community. I very much look forward to your contributions.
Thanks, and have a creative day!
RB

It becomes a distraction when it takes over your life. Always art. No separation.
