Set in the very near future, Ella creates Dashiel – the ultimate companion – in the robotics lab of her father’s tech company. Shortly after her father marries Cressida, he is killed in a car “accident” and Cressida kicks Ella out of the company and out of the house.  When Ella tries to stop Cressida from repurposing Dashiel into a lethal autonomous weapon, Ella is falsely accused of enabling Dashiel to attempt to assassinate the U.S. President. Ella has to go on the run to find the evidence that will exonerate her and prevent Dashiel from being used to start war.

Ella: Autonomy is an origin story with franchise and series potential. It is also being rendered as a graphic novel.

Shirtwaist is an original screenplay by Ann Deborah Fishman about the true story of the Uprising of 20,000 shirtwaist makers who in 1909 were challenged by a young Russian emigre, Clara Lemlich, to launch a massive strike against all the shirt waist factories in New York City in 1909 to fight oppressive conditions.

Despite intense opposition by the factory owners, the mayor, the courts and the thugs who were paid to beat them, the women prevailed in their demands for fair wages and humane conditions and ushered in watershed changes in labor laws and womens’s rights.
