After suffering harrowing childhood abuse and a failed justice system, a star professional hockey player resorts to vigilantism.
SYNOPSIS:
Rick Crisp, aging professional hockey star and married father of two, faces intense pressure to press charges against his childhood abuser, a pedophile named Dr. White.
Rick grew up in a Canadian prairie town (Roseville) where his childhood best friend and his brother-in-law both pressed charges against Dr. White.
When Dr. White’s parole hearing comes up, Rick’s wife pressures him to press charges to keep Dr. White in prison.
Rick is focused on his career and fulfilling his dream of winning the Stanley Cup. This may be his last season.
After serving 18 months in prison (one-third of his sentence) Dr. White is released and returns to Roseville. The townspeople, including the local police, are up in arms.
Upon Dr. White’s release from prison, Rick's brother-in-law commits suicide by drowning himself in the town’s water tower.
Rick's wife leaves him and takes the kids back to Roseville to support her widowed sister.
Rick resorts to violence on the ice and gets suspended for the remainder of the regular season.
Rick is eligible to play in the playoffs and gets traded to the Edmonton Oilers for one last run at the Stanley Cup. Edmonton is less than one hour from Roseville.
Dr. White continues to stalk children, including an episode where he is caught grooming Rick’s son.
Rick vows to deal with Dr. White when his season is over.
At season’s end, after a heartbreaking loss, Rick encounters Dr. White in a perverse exchange that leads to Rick taking matters into his own hands.
Disguised, Rick takes Dr. White to a barn at the summer camp where he was abused as a child. He puts Dr. White’s penis in a vice, spreads gasoline around the barn and hands Dr. White a knife.
Rick does not light the match, but leaves Dr. White stranded. Rick calls the local police to save Dr. White. The Police Officer that attends to the call has no mercy for Dr. White and decides to leave him there overnight.
The next day, the Police Officer rescues Dr. White, but Dr. White must have his penis amputated. Justice is served.
Rick gets his family back and signs a one year contract with the New York Rangers for one last chance to win the Stanley Cup.
