BRIGHT ICONS

BRIGHT ICONS
By Delia Chandler

GENRE: Historical, Drama
LOGLINE:

A kindred spirit never rests

SYNOPSIS:

Bright Icons is the magically realistic saga of how a fractured bit of the essence of life is harnessed in a piece of sky blue sea glass that travels through the past, present and future, and somehow lands in the kindred hands of those who “need” it. In hopes of utilizing this enigmatic power, some embrace this essence brought forward by a collective exhale of circumstance. Typically, an icon is created to channel this essence in hopes of having a sip of its intoxicating elixir. Others abuse or discard it. But unsurprisingly, the hangover from either encounter can be a bitch.

Genre: Magically realistic historical dramady.

Theme: Purpose, meaning, and family - biological and coincidental.

Season 1: Bright Icons

Our first encounter with the enchanted sea glass is as it is dislodged from the floor of the English Channel and tumbles its way onto Ovingdean Beach, Brighton where it is discovered by Esmerelda, a raven-haired siren of the sea who immediately recognises its power, and potential. She fashions the sea glass into a seemingly arbitrary object, a small, magnifying glass shaped silver fob, the sea glass serving as the lens. Through the fob’s “lens”, we witness the drama, comedy, tragedy, and pathos of the lives of the Deeprose and Welfare families whose stories intertwine amongst the myth and mystery of the seaside town of Brighton, England.
