Love this John. I might be tempted to remove 'uses his special skills for foreign languages' as I feel this is already well-handled by the phrase 'super translator.' I love the tantalising aspect of 'keep his secret past hidden'. Does 'save the crew' give away the ending? Might something like, 'Parlour must use his super translator skills if he is to outwit their captors and save the lives of the other crew members,' not present the reader with the full picture? Sounds really intriguing though.
