Ayyyy!! I had been anxiously waiting for January 15th to come around for the contest announcements for Black Boy Writes and was SHOOK when I got an email yesterday congratulating me for making it to the second round (My pilot "DIE TRYING" made it through!). I am SO excited ya'll. I was going back and forth about even submitting because I feel I just haven't had much luck in the industry, but I went ahead and got my submission in with literal MINUTES to spare. And here we are! For anybody like me, someone in their late twenties/early thirties still trying to break into this world, don't give up! Keep submitting, keep applying, keep reaching out. Even if I'm not selected as a finalist, I am so proud of even getting to this point. This has ignited a fire in me and I'm so excited to dive into my writing again. Congrats to the second rounders and to everyone that submitted! That's a victory in itself. Keep writing fam!
