Really interesting article - I had no idea they've been trying to make Frozen since 1937! Definitely worth a read for the animators here. https://www.yahoo.com/movies/8-lost-disney-animated-movies-and-why-they-...

Yep. MY PEOPLES was a real heartbreaker. There's more that were in development for years that aren't on this list. The biggest problem is, once you pitch (they hold pitch sessions for crew) they own the idea, whether it gets a go ahead or not or even if it gets developed but never goes into production. So once is awhile they did into the development archives and pull something like FROZEN out.

A ton of work gets done on many of these only to see them scrapped. Here is a test to show how the CG world would work with the hand drawn of MY PEOPLES. A lot of music and voice was recorded for this as well before the bean counters came in and shut it down. https://vimeo.com/134231984

@Laurie That's a tragedy. CG work is ridiculously hard work just to make a few frames. For a team of people to put their heart and soul into something for it never to be seen..... very sad. This is why I champion the independents route via a Youtube Web series. Ok the quality is not the same (It can't be - 1 person/small team vs a large team with money behind them), but you can still achieve a proof of concept for your script. Definitely increasing the chances of getting the work seen by the public. :)

Wow! This article makes me even more giddy and heart sick to work for Disney and see the ideas like this in the early stages. My Peoples does sound amazing. Especially when the animation could be so groundbreaking. I absolutely LOVED Meet the Robinsons ( I cried like a baby) Emperor's New Groove AND Brother Bear ( I still listen to that soundtrack by Phil Collins all the time) The long lost Disney movies that other people don't really get into are the ones that inspire me the most. Thank you Shannon and thanks for the extra info Laurie!
