Darn it! - Didn't make it to semfinals - Stage 32 New Voices in Animation Contest

Just found out that my script for Hidden Gems didn't make it to the semifinalist level. Super bummed. Oh well, time to put that content behind me and move onto bigger and better things. If you're interested in seeing what Hidden Gems is all about, check out my site - www.hiddengemsfilm.com - I've been working on developing this for almost 3 years now and I know one day it will be realized.

Peace! Kane

Kudos Hagop Kane Boughazian my friend I spent a good 30 mins on your movie page, The best part is you know that it's coming on Netflix as Netflix Originals, The concept is very unique, Wishing you all the luck.

Karen "Kay" Ross

Hey, Kane! Don't be bummed - you made it to quarter-finalists, right? Celebrate the victories! And keep going! * long-distance high-five *

Hagpop, my script didn't make it to the semi-finals either! But I believe it's because it's not ready yet, and I'm knee-deep in a re-write... it's easy to feel discouraged. Instead I'd rather let it motivate me to make the adjustments that would make my script a winner! (please let that be the case soon! haha)

You've got a great concept, Hagpop that will certainly find a home. Keep going!

I love that positive energy! I always say it's okay to not be okay. It's all about what you do afterward. I throw a lot of adult tantrums with a nice glass of Jameson. Then either start the rewrite or create something new. I personally believe you should keep going with this one. Please don’t give up on this concept this is so amazing! I was immediately captivated by this extremely creative world and characters you’ve come up with and can very easily imagine this as a successful show. And the song is very catchy! This is really inspiring!

Although you the script contest didn’t go as planned, there are lots of other resources on Stage 32 I think will be very helpful to you.

You can also sign up for verbal and written pitches to talk with executives directly to get instant feedback. I’ve done this a few times and have gotten so valuable feedback. They can even request your script, if they are interested enough in your pitch and that is another way to get eyes on your script. You can also choose an executive directly and get notes from them or hop on a phone call to get feedback on your script.

If you have questions on who may be the best person to connect with, Stage 32's director of script services, Jason Mirch at j.mirch@stage32.com can point you in the right direction.

Keep at it! I really think you’re onto something great!
