It has been 10 years this month that David Bowie left this mortal coil. Here is a great and insightful article into the collaborations that Bowie was involved in with musicians and filmmakers and is a testimony to his resilience and commitment to his work as an artist.
When focusing on the video for the track, “Lazarus” Andy Price suggests that the button-eyes are perhaps hinting at an ancient mythology of putting pennies in the eyes of the dead, but I feel he may have missed the subtle hint of a more contemporary source, the animated film, “Coraline”, where those enthralled, programmed by the system have button-eyes.
Perhaps Bowie was pointing at us and suggesting like Coraline, we needed to break free of our programming, just like he was about to do in the light of his prognosis?
“Diagnosed with liver cancer 18 months before his eventual death, Bowie had been undergoing energy-sapping chemotherapy and mentally coming to terms with the strong possibility that he wouldn’t survive. He opted to keep his condition quiet, sharing it only with his closest collaborators.Making another studio album, then, would be a tall order for most people facing such a debilitating treatment plan. But for David Bowie, an artist long fascinated with mortality, the knowledge that his life would likely soon end seemed to only stoke his creative fire.”
What are your thoughts about Bowie’s passing and the legacy he has left behind?

My condolences to David's family, friends, and fans, Geoff Hall. I'm not sure if I've heard of his music, but I've heard of him. I also found out he was a songwriter and actor.

Thanks for sharing the video, Geoff Hall. I found out yesterday David was in Labyrinth. I didn't know he was Jareth. His character is the main thing I remember about the movie.

Maurice Vaughan that’s cool, Maurice. By the way - His music evolved over the decades and is so unlike Space Oddity.
