Hi everyone!
My name is Dixon Morisseau. I’m an emerging film composer based in NYC. I’m here to learn more about how I can further develop in my career through networking and building relationships. Some of the things I’m very passionate about regarding film music is multicultural representation: blending musical elements of various cultures that would not only support a story being told, but also highlighting distinctions between characters, themes, scenarios, etc.
Aside from being heavily influenced by my Haitian roots, other aspects of my compositional voice is influenced by the likes of Yoko Kanno, Taku Iwasaki, Masashi Hamauzu, Hans Zimmer, Robert Glasper, and the Danish String Quartet.
I look forward to networking with you all.

Let me start by saying, you're in the right place, Dixon Morisseau. We have over 45,000 composers here and an enormous support system as well. The common denominator for the most successful? They're active and visible every day, sending network connections and contributing where they can.
As Leonardo Ramirez, getting that profile on point is paramount. You want people to truly discover you when they're interacting with you. And that means you don't want to give them the dead end of a black profile should they want to learn more about you.

Hey Dixon, welcome. Love that you're thinking about multicultural representation through music. That blend of Haitian roots with composers like Yoko Kanno and Hans Zimmer sounds really fresh. What's a scene or moment you've scored where that cultural blend worked exactly how you hoped?

Hey Sam Rivera! One moment I can think of was at a rescore I attempted a couple years ago. Before graduating from Berklee, I did a presentation on multicultural representation in film music in which I chose to rescore a gameplay from Assassin’s Creed: Liberations; focusing on blending the traditional Haitian rhythms of Zepol-Nago with the sounds of French chamber music since the story of this game was set in 1760s New Orleans.

Hi Dixon Morisseau, welcome to Stage 32! I’m Ashley, Head of Community here on the platform. It’s great to meet you, and I love the intentionality behind your approach to composing. It looks like some great advice has already been shared about jumping into conversations in the Composing Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/composing), and I definitely want to echo that. It’s one of the best places to connect with other composers and filmmakers while sharing your perspective and process.
I’d also recommend exploring our Composing Education (https://www.stage32.com/education/collections/composing). There are some fantastic resources there that can help you continue developing both creatively and professionally as you grow your career.
