Introduce Yourself : Karl Ross by Karl Ross

Hi, and thank you to everyone who’s reached out so far — I genuinely appreciate it.

I’ll introduce myself briefly. I’m Karl, and I have no formal experience in writing. This all started while working on a podcast with my best friend, Mark. We got talking about dreams, and his is to direct a film. So… I sat down and started writing a screenplay.

I’ve picked up some industry basics along the way, but beyond that, I’ve just been learning by doing and getting the words down. I’ve never felt this level of confidence in something before, and I’m completely driven to help my best friend realise his dream.

As someone with dyslexia, writing hasn’t always come easily, but the feedback from the few people who’ve read my work so far has been really positive, which has meant a lot.

I’m genuinely excited for this journey and looking forward to connecting with more people who can inspire me and help keep this momentum and passion alive.

i’m really proud of you for going after your dream Karl. Especially given dealing with dyslexia. I have no doubt that you’re going to write an incredible script. You have to follow your heart and the story within you. how are you finding the writing process so far?

Hi Karl Ross Welcome — writing your first screenplay to help your best friend realize his dream of directing a film is one of the most genuinely moving reasons anyone has ever joined this community. The fact that you started with no formal experience and are already receiving positive feedback tells us everything about the kind of determination that actually gets films made.

Great to meet you Karl. My brother is dyslexic and that is one tough road - especially growing up in our era's where the 80's and 90's didn't offer much support. Well done getting things moving and getting out there anyway! There's so many resources on this platform - the Open Houses are free and you can listen and get involved if you want to. Welcome aboard!
