The IIPG (independent producers guild - independentproducersguild.org) wants to hear from all independent producers and filmmakers regarding it's developing apprenticeship programs.
There are very few meaningful professional training programs in the film industry. Film school is helpful for some but often inadequate and by it's nature, academic and general. The DGA has training programs for assistant directors, but not much else. The PGA has nothing. People are left to their own devices to figure out production management and re-invent wheels across genres, formats and productions. The IIPG is therefore developing a paid apprenticeship program aimed at giving qualified people direct, meaningful production experience, on-the-job and under the supervision of experienced producers, line producers, production managers and coordinators. Interested?
We're looking to bring on qualified producers who are willing to make room for a paid apprentice on their production. The IIPG will take care of compensation, while the production gets the extra hand and in return the commit to ensuring certain tutelage and skills exposure is undertaken.
If you want to be part of this - whether as a financial supporter, as an employer, or as an aspiring producer/pm - contact us through the website at independentproducersguild.org.
