Screenwriting : A line to be proud of by Craig D Griffiths

Craig D Griffiths

A line to be proud of

I recently wrote a parenthetical that I was proud of write. Sound stupid to be proud of a single line, but I was.

A couple was having an argument. The wife made a point. He responded with one word. Here is his response.

MAN

(the thousandths time)

Really?

They have had the same fight many times.

Do you have a line of pride and why?

Rutger Oosterhoff 2

From the short script "Unholy Swap"

(Case 39 - Hermann Göring - Gordon Ramsay - Donald Trump)

SATAN: "You saved an eleven years old mass-murdering child, a self-proclaimed übermensch camping at the wrong level, a food poisoner, and the man who’s going to pay for the food with a false credit card."

Ronika Merl

This is one of my favourite ones. I love screenwriting exactly BECAUSE in ONE single line, you can convey so, so much. If this was prose, you'd need more words.

Jim Boston

Craig, I'd like to submit one from "Pixie Dust."

This line wraps up the scene where the women of Myriad House toured the Students' Cooperative building (formerly a frat house) at the U of Minnesota-Twin Cities in an effort to find a permanent place to house the new sorority...and I like this line because it was meant to conjure up a picture of The Unexpected:

MADELEINE: Are you kidding? We'll make the Three Musketeers look mutinous!

James L. Lytle III

Hey Craig how about this: " Your butt is watching my game, do you mind !"
