Whens submitting for competitions, can't writers generate 33%, 50%, 75%, or even 100% of their screenplay and submit it (as their own)? What parameters are there to prevent this? Is there any? I'm just getting back into screenwriting, but this makes me feel all the more skeptical about being a pure writer as AI grows and becomes smarter.

True they could but AI such as chatgpt dont create much original work its always derived from other shows. i think chatgpt should be used more as an assistant to bounce ideas off

It's a scary yet very realistic scenario, Elbron. We're officially entering contests to compete against Ai. Bizarre.

Hey Elbron James Eramia You've raised one of the most important questions facing our industry right now, and your skepticism is completely understandable. This is something we're actively monitoring and discussing across all our contest operations.
Current Reality
Most contests, including ours, are still developing comprehensive AI policies. The technology has evolved faster than industry standards, creating a challenging enforcement landscape. Some contests are beginning to implement AI detection tools, but the technology arms race continues.
Why Pure Writing Still Matters:
- Industry professionals can often tell - AI-generated content frequently lacks the distinctive voice, authentic character development, and emotional nuance that professional readers instantly recognize
- Long-term career building - Even if someone could game a contest with AI, they'd be completely unprepared for pitch meetings, rewrites, or professional collaboration
- Authentic storytelling - The industry ultimately seeks writers who can bring genuine perspective and voice to projects
Our Perspective:
Stage 32 contests exist to discover authentic voices and connect real writers with industry opportunities. An AI-generated winner would be fundamentally incompatible with our mission of writer development and industry matchmaking.
What We're Doing:
We're actively working on updated contest guidelines that address AI usage, likely requiring disclosure and setting clear parameters about acceptable vs. unacceptable AI assistance.
For You as a Writer:
Your authentic voice, personal experiences, and unique perspective remain irreplaceable. The executives we work with are seeking writers they can develop relationships with - not anonymous content generators.
Keep writing authentically. That's what will ultimately distinguish you in this evolving landscape.

If anyone knows of a coherent AI script, please share a link. I’d love to see it.
I know AI can write a scene or two that looks good, but an entire script with consistent characters and story? I doubt it.
Plus, writing a theme with a strong point-of-view? Hard for any human writer. AI doesn’t have intent.

Here’s what happens when you ask AI to write a screenplay. Probably not going to win awards.

We will never know, of course, what produced films and/or contest winners have been written wiith or by A. i. Maybe many!
