November Write Club Week 4 Blog is a Masterclass on Pitching

Happy Monday to all!

Just read Evan Anglin's Week 4 post The Art of the Pitch - generous and actionable advice to anyone who's pitching anything, really. Definitely recommend the read: https://www.stage32.com/blog/november-write-club-week-4-the-art-of-the-p...

And don't forget the awesome Head of Community, Ashley Smith, is hosting the November Community Open House tomorrow at 12 PT/3 EST - always and informative and fun time! https://www.stage32.com/education/products/stage-32-s-november-community...

RE Pitching - it's been a while for me, so this blog post had impeccable timing - It feels kinda nice to know that I will finally have a couple of scripts to start pitching next month :)

What is everyone's game plan for the end of the year with regards to pitching frequency? cheers

Maurice Vaughan

Happy Monday, Sebastian Tudores! Today's blog is a must-read! I'm looking forward to the Community Open House!

My game plan is keep pitching my scripts and pitch the scripts I wrote/I'm writing for November Write Club. I pitch through Stage 32's Pitch Sessions, email query letters, and posting pages of my scripts in Stage 32's Your Stage Lounge, on Twitter/X, and on Instagram, like First Page Friday, Third Page Thursday, and Sneak Peek Sunday. I post loglines and script posters with the pages.

I also post short pitches (like two-word pitches and three-word pitches) on social media sometimes.

Meriem Bouziani

Happy NWC to you.

I hope you’re having successful sessions.

For me, the plan is to focus on my writing and then develop myself for the next pitch session.

Elle Bolan

I am... Still stalling. So, my game plan is to get the heck over myself and get my pitch materials together.

Eddie Lawhorn

Great blog today. I liked the comments that the folks listening to the pitches want you to succeed. That’s reassuring, and matches my experience becoming a game show contestant. They wanted people who were going to be easy to work with. Every contestant has stories that could be used, but can you be relaxed or might you go all deer in the headlights?

Sebastian Tudores

Maurice Vaughan wow dude! I love that creative exposure plan - it's awesome. not surprised. you've always got a creative angle on any problem :) I'm inspired!

Sebastian Tudores

Meriem Bouziani that sounds like a solid plan - what has your writing process been like? Sometimes I find that working on my pitch even as I write the script solidifies my understanding of the story. And Happy NWC to you too! :)

Sebastian Tudores

Elle Bolan haha Oh I hear ya' ! lol let's make a pact that we're both gonna 'get over' ourselves and scramble a draft of a pitch for one of our projects by end of month? nothing perfect - just something we can look at and say "look, it exists!" haha

Sebastian Tudores

Oh that's a great take away for sure Eddie Lawhorn - and what an cool experience the game show must have been! how long were you on the show?

Maurice Vaughan

Thanks, Sebastian Tudores. I came up with a new idea to pitch my feature script. Looking forward to sharing about the idea!

Meriem Bouziani

Thank you very much Sebastian Tudores

My writing process is slow — I’m only on page 21 — but I really appreciate these small steps because I’m genuinely enjoying the world of The Silent PFC War.

Elle Bolan

You're on. It's a pact. I'll have a pitch doc, in some form, by the end of the month. Deal? @Sebastian Tudores

Eddie Lawhorn

Thanks, @SebastianTudores ! I have lots of stories of being on Who Wants to be a Millionaire in 2009. I appeared on two episodes then. (I was the carryover contestant on the second Friday taping, so I got a free weekend in New York City while waiting to finish taping on Monday.)

Sebastian Tudores

Maurice Vaughan can't wait to find out! awesome

Sebastian Tudores

Meriem Bouziani enjoying the world you're 'living' in is kinda critical - so congrats! also means you're enjoying the process :) is The Silent PFC War the same as the The De-Evolution Game or are they separate projects? Seems like a very complex world - gives me Lord of the Flies vibes, but with adults and in a future I don't even wanna think about lol

Sebastian Tudores

Elle Bolan a deal has been made!! :) awesome!

Sebastian Tudores

Eddie Lawhorn that's fantastic - looking forward to you sharing them through your project!

Meriem Bouziani

Thank you very much for your words — that truly means a lot Sebastian Tudores

And yes, The Silent PFC War and The De-Evolution Game are completely separate projects.

The Silent PFC War is a psychological sci-fi thriller built on neuroscience and global collapse,

while The De-Evolution Game is a multiverse, time-paradox epic driven by a sentient AI.

They both explore humanity in extreme situations, but each world has its own tone, logic, and philosophy.

I’m really enjoying the process of developing them — it's chaotic, but in the best way.

Sebastian Tudores

that's super Meriem Bouziani - creative projects that not only entertain but create a reflexive need for reflection are my favorites. keep rockin' it! :)

Meriem Bouziani

Thank you very much for your encouragement Sebastian Tudores

Elle Bolan

Hey @Sebastian Tudores. It's the last day of the month, and I wanted to check in and say, she's not a pretty pitch document yet. Rough draft is the phrase to use, but it is a completely written pitch document Ready for prettying up.

How are you doing on your end of our deal?

Sebastian Tudores

hi Elle Bolan ! sorry I'm late checking in. ended up having to take a short-notice 10hr drive west through the night and STILL recovering haha. CONGRATS!!! that's awesome and, really, the hard part.

it's interesting to see how everyone goes about it - I have a tough time not doing both the copy of the deck and the design set up at the same time. So I've been able to complete most sections - 1) still short of a mood board; 2) I realized I need to revisit my comps toward more of an 'elevated espionage thriller' vibe; 3) and need to simplify the synopsis. but definite progress - thank you for being my AP! :)

what app/software do you use for the 'prettying up'? I've found myself using almost exclusively Canva lately.

Elle Bolan

@Sebastian oh yes, Canva Pro all the way. I love how I can build the look of each slide in layers. I do have my images ready. So now I can clean up my copy and create the deck.

And thank you for the same! I needed it. I've been stalling for two weeks on this thing. Appreciate the nudge!

Hopefully you get some r&r in soon!

Sebastian Tudores

Go Canva Pro! ;) and thank you Elle Bolan - trying to use today's writing session as relaxation time... alas, apparently that doesn't go together with espionage thrillers haha

Elle Bolan

Nothing like a good secret mission to cool the jets, right? Haha
