I had to look up the meaning of "four-quadrant movie". If "Nobody's Heroes" reached that plateau a lot of credit goes to the various consultations I had on Stage 32 in the script' s early drafts. For example; "The ending is so great, find a way to tease it in the opening." I did and now it's, "the opening hooks you immediately". Another great piece of advice, "The character of Marcy (the protagonist's gf and future wife) is fascinating. Find a way to expand her role." I did in two major scenes. In the first one, she sees how badly his body has been scarred by combat in Vietnam (he's a Marine). Instead of being repulsed, she kisses every one of his wounds, assures him now he's safe and confirms her deep love for him. Then I (unconsciously) recreated the balcony scene from "Romeo & Juliet" when he proposed to her. It also helped it was spontaneous and comedic. So, a lot of different elements have gone into fashioning this story (including my own life experiences) but the cool, detached professional eyes of multiple S32 consultants cannot be minimized.
