Screenwriting Challenge – Springtime

It’s spring, and there’s a lot going on. Spring cleaning, college basketball, cookouts, gardening, bird watching, kite flying, baking, feeding ducks, hiking, picnics, filming movies, etc.

Pick one of these and come up with a script idea, scene, character, or dialogue. Feel free to post what you come up with in the comments.

Here’s what I came up with: A lonely woman decides to spring clean her house and discovers an unpublished book that helps her find love. It's a Rom-Com called “The Handbook to Finding Love.” Knowing me, I’ll probably write it as an Action Rom-Com. :D

Mark Deuce

You gave me a great idea for a Spring Cleaning Horror Short: Logline: "A tormented mother’s spring cleaning unleashes a ravenous, shapeshifting horror from the depths of her hoarded past, its screams echoing through the house as it devours her family one by one."

Sounds scary, Mark Deuce!

Mark Deuce

Thank you so much for the inspiration Maurice Vaughan

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Mark Deuce. I've never seen a spring clean Horror movie before.

Mark Deuce

Me neither Maurice Vaughan

Wal Friman

Lets say two families get together for some college basket ball. This list would be exactly what they'd do before and after to get their low graders to sit still for an hour.

Maurice Vaughan

I can see that being a chaotic Family-Friendly movie, Wal Friman. Cheaper by the Dozen x Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

lol I need the spring clean reminder!!

Maurice Vaughan

Glad it was a reminder, Sydney S. Do you digital spring clean too?

TItle: Spring Cleansing: Out With The Old In With The New

"Each year, one fortunate family is granted the golden ticket to paradise—but before they can unpack, they must survive the ultimate gauntlet: the Spring Opener. Beneath the charming festival lies a sinister trial of blood and bone, where the feast is laced with fatal consequences, and the hazing isn’t just brutal—it’s lethal. But the real twist? The family isn’t competing to get in—they’re competing to take someone else’s place. In this perfect neighborhood, residency is for life… unless someone better comes along. How far would you go to steal a slice of utopia?

It seemed like a beautiful day to fly a kite, so I brought out the dragon slapped on his tail and up it went into the sky. Soaring over the calm waters of lake Miniconchu. The sun was shining and spring had sprung. Then to my surprise a flock of ducks appeared out of nowhere. Circling my kite, quacking to beat the band. Up they went and down they soared singing duck songs, the melody quacking through the clouds. They circled overhead swooping up and down. Then to my surprise a beautiful mallard landed on my shoulder. Continue....

Wow, Renae Richardson! That's unique! And creepy!

Maurice Vaughan

I like that, Lee Shargel! That would be a beautiful scene to watch! "Soaring over the calm waters of lake Miniconchu," "The sun was shining and spring had sprung," "Then to my surprise a flock of ducks appeared out of nowhere," etc.

Lee Shargel
