Joseph Campbell/John Steinbeck Script Requested by ICM
Received some very pleasant news today. ICM requested by feature film screenplay about Joseph Campbell's friendship and rivalry with John Steinbeck. Many thanks to Joey for his help hammering the pitch into shape.
It gets better. Campbell and John's wife Carol have an affair that nearly derailed Steinbeck's career before it started. It's Arthur, Guinevere, and Lancelot with Ed "Doc" Ricketts playing Merlin and the paisanos of Monterey forming the Round Table. It's Rick, Ilsa, and Viktor, with "Doc" channeling Renault. It's a classic love triangle.
Thanks Mike. At it's heart, it's really a love story that involves some well-known people. It was fun to get to know Campbell, Steinbeck, and Ricketts a bit more. Fascinating people. And all set in Monterey, California. Pretty tough to beat.
Great job Ken.
Thanks Eric. It's pretty exciting. Kudos to Joey and crew for their patience and assistance.

I'm curious how you know about the story. Not many people do. Thanks for the good wishes.
This, no doubt, would be a fascinating film!
I'd love to see a movie about Steinbeck. Best of luck with it!

It is. Who would have thought that these two would have ever crossed paths. But, they did, and they remained in touch most of the rest of their lives.
