Composing : What are you working on? by Timothy Andrew Edwards

Timothy Andrew Edwards

What are you working on?

Anyone have any composing projects happening they are excited about?

Bruce Bray

I just started work on a paranormal webseries, and I'm pretty happy about that. The director has worked locally for quite some time and a lot of people know him and speak highly of him, and he's very engaged right away with me. So I"m pretty positive about that.

Timothy Andrew Edwards

That's excellent! The director is a Phoenix person or Tucson?

Bruce Bray

Phoenix. Pretty happy about it. Doing some research and thought processing now.

Timothy Andrew Edwards

Will you update us when it's up?

Bruce Bray

Absolutely man! I think it's going to be pretty cool.

Gav Cantrell

I'm about to start a feature length score for a film by Warren Speed called Coulrophobia. I'll update when there's a release date!

Joel Irwin

Just came off scoring two shorts for the 168 film festival. It is Aug 29-30 in LA and I'll be there. I didn't get a nomination for myself, but "Mother's Day" (only one eligible for individual nominations) got two (for supporting actress and makeup) and "Freedom Gate" is up for best kidvid film (the kidvid I scored last year won). I have the scores / soundtracks posted in www.icompositions.com/artists/joelirwin. No time to moan about not getting a scoring nomination (heck, "Freedom Gate" may still win best kidvid) - I'm off to score a feature called "Joy Comes In The Morning" (www.imdb.com/title/tt4666484) which is a drama based on a novel about a mother (and then her daughter) who get breast cancer (and the story is a bit further 'enhanced'). Film still shooting. I hope to get it to score in the next 3 or 4 weeks.

Timothy Andrew Edwards

Gav, Checked out the imdb. Looks cool! Go rock it!

Timothy Andrew Edwards

Congrats Joel! I'm going to try and get to the fest this year. Maybe we'll bump into each other?

NEWS Original Falsettos Star Will Be Part of Bollywood and Vine Musical Reading By Andrew Gans 08 Jul 2015 Readings of the new musical Bollywood and Vine, based on Edward Jordon’s film of the same title, will be presented July 9 at 2 PM and 6 PM at The Lion Theatre at Theatre Row in New York. Heather Mac Rae (Hair, A Catered Affair, Falsettos) will star in the reading of the musical, which was penned by Jordon, June Rachelson-Ospa and Daniel Neiden. Mac Rae will be joined onstage by Felicia Blum, DJ Bucciarelli, Christina Farruggia, Rick Roemer, Marian Steiner, Levin Valayil and Brian Walters. In a statement Jordon said, "In the show, the mom of a gay young man helps him find his true love through some pretty outrageous means. Along the way, she finds her own true love. The central character of Delilah Leigh is my own invention, but she’s real to me. She is my mother. When I lived my own real-life coming out to her, I could not have scripted it any sweeter in terms of her embrace of my emotions, my journey, and me.” Reservations are required by emailing RSVP@TheTellingCompany.org. For more information about the production or The Telling Company, visit Thetellingcompany.org.

Scoring this new show for Warner Bros. debuting September 14th on the CW network!

Maria A Zani

well done

Bruce Bray

Wow man, that alooks awesome!

Timothy Andrew Edwards

Thanks! As I mentioned to Dara before, these types of cues are really fun to do!

Samuel Estes

We just finished (a little while ago) doing a lot of music sound design for Inside Out. Any non-orchestral element in that score we designed, was a lot of fun to work with Michael Giacchino on it - the man is pure genius! And we are about to release a new sound design tool (based in Kontakt) - will share shortly.

Timothy Andrew Edwards

Congratulations Sam! That's fantastic! And my copy of Kontakt is drooling over here!

Arhynn Descy

@Samuel....did you mean Inside Out? Just been to see it .....and sobbed. It's such a beautiful film! Congrats on the sound design. Music and sound was awesome!

Arhynn Descy

I've just finished recording my latest showreel with an orchestra. Link: www.arhynndescy.com/orchestralreel.htm. Now working on music for a ballet to be filmed in Iceland. Its a rather unusual project, not something I've done before. Thoroughly enjoying it!

Greg Sims

Hi Timothy...I just listened to your "7 Tips..." webinar because I couldn't make it for the live event. Thanks for sharing. I was one of those composers who began in the music library world, even ended up co-owning two. I moved to LA last year and am now working on the score for a doc about legendary director John G. Avildsen.

Brian Gaber

No film at the moment but I am writing for a recording with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra.

Timothy Andrew Edwards

Greg, I'm the Chair for the Composer Advisory Committee for the Production Music Association (pmamusic.com) and the one thing I think I didn't harp on enough n my webinar was that music libraries used to be a good entry level way to get in and still are but the trend lately is that they are sounding amazing and seem to be the new business model for working in a primary way more than the historic secondary income/side gig. Thanks for checking out the webinar!

Rolando Gori

Great stuff in here... thanks for asking, Tim. I'm currently doing the final mix on a fanfare I wrote which is to be synced to a 3-minute in-house promotional video to be shown at the United Nations 70th anniversary celebrations in September here in NYC. I hear lots of world leaders will be there, including Obama. Not sure if I will be able to attend (i.e. probably for security reasons), but I'll certainly try to get a pass.

Timothy Andrew Edwards

Rolando! That's amazing! I hope we can all hear it at some point. Congratulations!

Marcelo Quinonez

Literally just delivered the final stems for Get Squirrely http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2097333/ !

Timothy Andrew Edwards

Touche'! Nice gig, Marcelo!

Timothy Andrew Edwards

Wow Aaron! Love that series! My son really loves the series! has all the games! Congratulations! That's a big fish! Are you in L.A. too?
