Simple question to my fellow scribes: if I want to insert a title card on screen, say “1984, Dallas, Texas” to indicate time and place, how do I represent that in my screenplay? Because later in the script I need to say “Present Day.” Thanks in advance!

I would recommend Dave Trottier, "THE SCREENWRITER'S BIBLE," it's a great reference for questions such as yours.

The term “TITLE CARD” designates a separate graphic element, a card that is not superimposed over the scene. Title cards were common in silent films, but are seldom used today. I would do it the way Eric suggested.
