After reading several posts from Stage 32 members about their experiences pitching to agents, managers, producers, and other industry gatekeepers, I decided to make it official and...change my original strategy.
I've decided to enter at least one of Stage 32's 2020 contests.
In addition, I went to https://www.thescreenwritersmarket.com and started browsing through the site's producers' board.
Yesterday, I decided to, instead of pitching through 32 (no offense), query a couple of production companies I found through The Screenwriter's Market: Ask Around Productions and Iron Fist Productions.
Both firms asked for loglines as a starting point...so I went to Ask Around's Website and typed in "Andrea's" logline, then went over to the Iron Fist site and put in the logline to "Rivertown Rock!"
Also, I'm considering Virtual Pitch Fest after finding out I can make five pitches for $50.
At least it's a start...and I realize there's nothing like pitching face-to-face.
But I'm glad for a chance to, at long last, roll the dice.
And ALL THE THANKS IN THE WORLD go out to every last one of you here on Stage 32.
All the VERY BEST to you!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and insights bud, as someone who is about to graduate from Uni as a screenwriter it's awesome to know these things exist and real people are using them.

FYI: When you pay someone to listen to your pitch you're paying for a critique, nothing more.
Now that you're sending out queries, you've left square one and started playing the game.

Jim, I applaud your change in tactics. For a stark view on why cold query pitching doesn't work, view https://youtu.be/XYFY3qqLQMQ

That film's baloney.
Occam's Razor applies-- maybe the query letters just sucked.
Besides, who cares about the average-- I'm way better than average (anybody who doesn't think they are should quit now!)
Plus, they were blind queries, not cold queries. You don't ask Michael Bay to read your RomCom. It was pretty clear you got the results you wanted.
What a writer needs to do is put in the work and send the proper queries to the proper people.

Yeah, that Beck & Woods strategy is brilliant. This is why listening to the candid views of people who have built careers is so powerful.

I love to roll dice! Unfortunately there's not a craps table here. Good luck to you Jim.
