Hi all, love the idea of "Introduce Yourself Weekend" (Nice one, RB).
My name is Stephen A. Carter. Stephen for short. Steve for shorter. I went by Steve for most of my life but the past ten years or so I've preferred Stephen, I think mostly because it's my name. I spent a long time in L.A., twenty-eight years. I produced for Michael Bay, Marty Callner, Jon Small, Rebecca Blake, Michael Soloman, and many others, mainly music videos, some commercials. I produced a couple movies and worked on some TV & streaming shows. I've worked with some outstanding DPs like Ollie Wood, Darren Okada, John Schwarzman, and Daniel Pearl. And got to shoot in Russia, Japan, the Yucatan, Canada, and all over the United States.
My passions are writing, directing, and shooting. I spend all my free time writing. I worked freelance my whole career, except for a short stint as co-founder/Head of Production for Two-Headed-Monster. Egos killed that monster. I found the older I got, the more difficult it was to find sustained work so I moved back home to Ohio where I reconnected with my high school sweetheart. We got married, bought a house, and adopted a dog. I also landed a gig with Time Warner where I was able to write, shoot, direct, edit local and regional spots and corporate videos. It was unfortunate I had to leave L.A., but I've never been happier. I got the opportunity to work on my writing, directing, shooting, and editing skills, and think I'm a better writer overall, and person because of it. I'm an ACM award winner and a Page Award Bronze Prize winner. I'm currently shopping my screenplays, Untitled, and Alexander Selkirk, and hoping to direct PEEKER.
I'm looking to connect, make some friends, share my work, help people where I can, and maybe strike a deal or two, if possible. I've learned to keep my expectations low, but my optimism high. I've also learned that while people can often be disappointing, they are a source of great joy, wisdom, intelligence, entertainment, and comfort. And those are the attributes I choose to look for. Anyway, below is my demo reel. If you're interested in reading a script or two, let me know. If there's anything I can do for you, please reach out. I have a ton of experience and a wealth of knowledge I'm willing to share. I don't have a ton of free time, but I always do what I say I'll do. Hope we can connect.

Hey, Steve! Nice to meet you!
Oh, man, I feel like you typify the lesson I was expressing in my first Stage32 BLOG about how to approach networking: https://www.stage32.com/blog/How-to-Make-Friends-in-the-Film-Business-Re... It's all about intentions (and keeping those expectations realistic, FoSho!).
Dude, I have a favor - you live in Ohio and I have no visual representation for what makes it unique. Would you participate in my "Paris, Je T'aime" challenge in the Filmmakers Lounge? https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing/Paris-Je-Taime-for-Wishful-Thin... I'd love to know more about it through the eyes of a filmmaker that likes living there!

Great blog post, Karen! Totally agree. It's about being real, being engaged, being engaging, and even a little about being unafraid to be vulnerable. People need to see your humanity. I posted in your "Paris, Je T'aime" thread. Love it.

Thanks, Sandeep. Wow, those were the days. I think I do remember you. Were you a year ahead of me? I'm still in touch with Bob Tinnell and Jon McCallum if you remember them. Sounds like you've done well. Glad to hear it!
