Hello guys, another post coming from my heart to yours!
Today, I want the subject to be about quotes - We have all come across a quote that will be in us the rest of our lives. The quote has to make sense for you, your personality, and your work. there is plenty of people who have created or come up with quotes that really make sense, and move people with their feelings and passion. Your quote can also be something you created, mine is something I personally think is important and something I created myself.
MY QUOTE
“The more we share, the more we learn” - Sille Larsen

Hitch once told me that films are life stories - just leave out the dull parts. Or something to that effect.

An elderly Hollywood film exec leaned back at his desk, encircled by cigarette smoke, and spoke to me as a mentor. "Film's not complicated, son. It's really just two things. One person says or does something and another person reacts to it."

Trust your own instinct. Your mistakes might as well be your own, instead of someone else’s.

David Goyer in a speech at BFTA. When discussing flowery description.
“I’ll never be that lazy again” and when he discusses why he directs on the page, “I want people to know I have thought about everything. I got their back”.

I think about Richard Donner and his quote about verisimilitude and why it's important. "I have a sign to this day in my office of Superman flying through the air, dragging a sign by him that says 'verisimilitude', because the story had to have it's own honesty; everybody had to believe it was real."
And that's something I keep in mind as a creative, because if you can't believe in it, no matter how fantastical it is, the project won't work.
From my mentor, Leon Melas: "It's always about the story. If it doesn't serve the story, throw it out."

As Hitch once said "it's only a movie".
Matt Damon re: All the Pretty Horses: “composer Daniel Lanois got an old 1949 guitar and wrote this spare, haunting score. We did the movie listening to his score. It informed everything we did. We made this very dark, spare movie, but the studio wanted an epic with big emotions and violins." Bigshots make decisions that ruin magic. I have seen big biz loose millions just to maintain egos.
