Hello hello!
I’m Shanika Freeman, a composer and screenwriter currently based in Baltimore, Maryland. I’ve been part of Stage 32 for a bit. I always come across new gems and amazing creatives here. I’ve written a few blogs on the site, ranging from mental health as a creator, and writing tips. Stage 32 has helped me connect with a lot of wonderful people from the film, theatre, and game industry. So many opportunities here! Currently, I am providing sound design for a local theatre production of “Rachel” a play originally written by journalist and activist, Angelina Weld Grimké. I am working on a few scripts (1 historical drama, 1 sci-fi feature, 1 audio drama). It’s been a journey and I’m super excited to be sharing it with all of you. It’s nice to meet you all. What are you all up to? Are you working on something new? Polishing something old?

Alexandria Mitchell Hang in there! It's hard trying to get back on your feet after facing financial hardship, especially during a pandemic. So many different obstacles everywhere you turn it seems. But, you are still moving forward. You got this!

Shanika Freeman Hey! Thanks for sharing that experience while watching "Good Witch" as it's one of the comps based on their more realistic treatment of witches and magick without all supernatural CGI-focused horror stuff. Perfect!

Shanika Freeman Hey Neeko! Congratulations on working as a composer with my friend, Andrew Rothkin, on his short and new feature film project! I'm meeting up with him this weekend in Atlantic City at the Horror-Con Festival where his "Love Bites" film is an official selection screening on Sunday. Awesome!
Valerie Michele Oliver I love working with Andrew! Love Bites was such a fun project to work on. I had fun writing original lyrics and music and working with singers. It was a great experience!! I have to also give credit to Mathew Cohen who did the bulk of the instrumental score and Ivan Markovsky who did the sound editing for Love Bites. It was a great collaboration.
Ahh, I wish I could go to the screening for Love Bites. Enjoy it!
