On Writing : "Smoke, drink, eat cake and Funk" by Gareth James Brookes

"Smoke, drink, eat cake and Funk"

I wrote this for myself. I wrote it to have fun and with a hope that maybe it would make other people smile. It seems it might have. I wrote it to keep myself sane and focussed during the pandemic - to live in another world. And had it published. I thoroughly enjoyed the process. Naughty but nice funky noir. It has a happy - but bloody - ending:) Maybe you'll enjoy it.

Congratulations!

That's really cool that you made it for yourself, and published it for others to read. Plus, what a great cover! How are you feeling now that it's done? Are you on to the next book, or do you feel like this book did the job?

Awesome. YOU are the best person to write for. If we don't write for ourselves -- which means content we can get excited about, then why would we write?

Thanks to you all. Writing the novel was a huge learning curve, after writing TV scripts. Mistakes were made but they have determined me to push on hard with the next novel in the series. There is is a real satisfaction in completing it.
