Hey all, I’ve been thinking about the importance of recognizing small victories a lot lately, and today is no different. I got some disheartening news this afternoon, which just complicates things I’m dealing with. I did what I could today, then I shifted my focus to “So They Say”, the TV pilot my best friend and I wrote, and how it was finished just in time to submit it to its first OWA on January 24th! Even though I haven’t heard anything back regarding it yet, I feel like this was a huge accomplishment. This perspective may seem silly to some, though, my life keeps reaffirming it.
I don’t talk about the following much because it often leads to pity and becomes people’s only focus, which clouds their perceptions of me. However, my physical disability, comes with several challenges every day, including typing really slowly and not being as active here on Stage32, as I’d like. If either of these challenges don’t disqualify “So They Say” from the OWAs, that’s awesome, but if they do, I’d just have to find another avenue. I mean, it’d suck for sure, though sometimes you just gotta really recognize the small victories, and keep going, you know?
Dreams can come true, but not if we give up on them... or so they say. Progress is progress, no matter how slight (e.g. a couple paragraphs or sentences at a time), right?

Andre Campbell I always celebrate finishing a script. It’s a massive accomplishment for any writer, so well done. And yes, just keep going, put yourself out there and see what comes back to you.
I have just entered my script into the Stage32 Short Film Script Competition and it felt like a victory. So congratulations on your submission for the OWA.

I’m totally inspired by your attitude and you have 2 victories here - 1, that you finished your script which is no small feat, and 2) submitting to an open writing assignment that most people don’t have access to except for Stage 32 Writers Room members. Those are big wins and you should be proud!

Andre Campbell Small victories are everything... yours sounds like way more than a small victory and llike many have said on here already - finishing a screenplay/pilot is huge - either way you cut it... Keep us posted on your progress.. I too have submitted to the OWA - so fingers crossed for both of us :)

Andre Campbell Andre, as the old parable says “Don’t despise the day of small things.”
