What are your goals for the next seven weeks?

The year 2024 is looming on the horizon. With the WGA strike over and hopefully the SAG strike ending soon, there may be more opportunities for screenwriters, particularly for independent film projects. Do you have any incomplete bullet points left on the 2023 goal sheet? Do you have a set of goals for 2023? I did. And I’ve been partially successful.

What's your plan to finish out your creative writing in 2023

Vikki Harris

I have three scripts I need/want to finish before the end of the year.

Debbie Croysdale

To finish all loose ends on this years projects and take a deep sigh of relief with a new blank page 01/01/24. To finally have my website up, I tried to do it myself but some pages need tech coding & other complicated interactive stuff.

Maria Restivo Glassner

Hi Phillip! In the past few months, I have spent a lot of time talking to execs from the different hour-long phone call opportunities, and I feel like I have finally gotten a decent barometer for what I am aiming at. My goal in 4 weeks is to finish my pilot as in the FINAL draft to be sent out to pitch. The following three weeks would be getting deep into a comedy thriller movie idea I've been tossing around. How about you?

Brittney Coon

Hey! My goals for the rest of the year are to query my romance book, finish writing another romance book (only have 3 chapters left), rewrite my Christmas horror feature, and maybe outline a new drama pilot.

Bill Albert

There are two different projects I'm hoping to finish. 1 is to finish the script for an episode of a series I've been working on. It;'s really become my passion project that I've pitched regularly over the past two years. Some friends have suggested I try writing outside my comfort zone. Two weeks ago I started writing a murder mystery set in a city near here and have 42 pages to show for it. It's really taken on a life of its own.

Christiane Lange

Right now, the immediate goal is to finish an application for state funding (Greece) for a short.

Once that is out of my hair, I plan to write something on the European drug trade. It will most likely be two separate scripts: one a bitter-sweet comedy short, set in the UK and aimed at the BBC, the other a straight-up thriller feature set in various Euro locations and aimed at Nuboyana.

Maurice Vaughan

Hey, @Phillip E. Hardy, Scénariste. How have you been? My goals for the next seven weeks are to finish a micro-budget feature script (my November Write Club goal), pitch scripts I already have done, and continue to build relationships/network.

Ashley Renee Smith

Kiril Maksimoski

Buddy director which filmed one of my scripts having an interview on national television apropos his latest feature this Sunday, so definitely gonna watch that....then, the next 6 weeks and 6 1/2 days, dunno...open for assignments, through...

Stephanie Munch

Hey nice to see you around! The next seven weeks, complete the first season of my audio series. Next year, collaborating with other screenwriters, training as a director and producing my first short film. I can't wait!

Leonardo Ramirez

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique - finish what I'm working on but with a greater focus on my dialogue.

Eric Sollars

Still working on that crazy screenplay.
