Hi all…
I’ve technically been a member for a few years but am only now beginning to take advantage of all that Stage 32 has to offer.
During the past 20 years, I’ve been writing (as well as ghostwriting), coaching actors and writers, ran a performance and theatre workshop studio in NY, and put up my one-man play a few times, but I’ve been out of the loop, in terms of pursuing the production of my screenplays, or getting my screenplays ‘out there’.
2024 marks the 20th anniversary of my Award-winning short film, Mimmo and Paulie, and after some recent huge life changes, and some deep self-analysis and spiritual growth, I’m committed to make this the year I come out swinging… or I guess I should say pitching?
My recent general pitch to seeking representation is asking them to watch just the first 5-6 minutes of my short (28 min total), which will hopefully be enough to entice them to see more. I would truly welcome any feedback on this if you to take the time and would love to know… Does 5-6 minutes make you want to see more? Some solid acting as well from a couple of guys you will likely recognize.
I’m not the most social guy, hence my delay with introducing myself… but looking forward to connecting with some of you. Always interested in meeting other writers, producers, investors, and actors, especially in the Toronto area, as I have theatrical productions in the works as well. I recently relocated here from NY after 30 years.
My short film, as well as some sample writings can be found here…

Congrats on putting yourself out there, Domenic Silipo! I'm so glad that you're really exploring the community and sharing with us! The best way to network here on Stage 32, is to be more involved and active within the lounges on a regular basis. That’s the best way to be seen and noticed. The most effective networking comes from building genuine relationships over time.

Love that you're diving in more fully, Domenic Silipo. No better time than the present, IMO. Some fantastic suggestions from Emily J & Ashley Renée Smith!.

Maurice Vaughan , a one-man play is a super form of self-expression and storytelling. The format also allows for an easier way (logistically) to put up a production and get a message out to viewers.

Maurice Vaughan , no... I've never recorded my play. IMO, in order for live theatre to 'film' well, it needs to be treated somewhat like TV in terms of lighting and sound. My stage productions have always been in small house, 50-90ish seats. I DID make a film of part of a play... my short, Mimmo and Paulie (link in my initial post, or on my profile).

I watched Mimmo e Pauli, a beautiful drama, I was tense with the good performances of the two actors. I think that's what you wanted to convey to the audience !!!

I plan on checking out "Mimmo and Paulie," Domenic Silipo. David Zayas is a talented actor.

Maurice Vaughan , he certainly is! We had met years prior as actors playing the same role in a scene show case on alternate evenings. He was excited about the short script and brought Felix Solis into the mix… another great actor. They were both doing a play at the time directed by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, and were both gracious with their time as we worked around their busy schedule. I hope you do check it out. Would welcome your thoughts!

Domenic Silipo Master, it's been two years since I left journalism, I was involved in this area AS CINEGRAPHY for a long time, but always with the thought of writing something and making it happen with the lens of my camera FOR CINEMA OR TV. It's been a year since I found this golden platform. Well, I've looked at others and they don't compare here at STAGE32. I'm being honest, so I don't have anything yet because, like I said, I'm just getting started. Some things written to get things moving, but focused on that path. So, in the future I will post something valuable and your eyes and the eyes of other people will be able to see a good short film here. Obviously, it will be within STAGE32 standards.
