Hey everybody, I'm happy to be back. It's been a while since I've been here, but last time I was, I was finishing up a productive, fun summer promoting my nonfiction book. The people helping me publicize it suggested looking into turning it into a larger project, a documentary film or series. I love the idea and am very committed to the book's subject, but 1) I don't know how to go about it and 2) I don't know who to trust or believe with ideas and direction. But I'm in far better position now to pour myself into it over the next year than I was a year ago. Open to ideas and suggestions. Otherwise, I'm very open to ways I can expand beyond journalistic writing. Hope you all are doing well!

David Steele for sure that topic is worthy of a documentary. As someone who also worked in professional sports (I worked in hockey) you already have some of the contacts you need. If you ever want to flush out anything with a fellow sports journalist, who also worked in administration (football, baseball), feel free to reach out.

I love the topic of your book, David Steele! Have you thought about directing a documentary short based on the book as a proof-of-concept piece to help garner more interest in the long form project?

I hadn't thought about that. I like this idea, and it feels doable. Thanks!

My pleasure. There are some great resources and courses here on short film making that I'd be happy to share if you want to see them. If so, email me at edu@stage32.com. Wishing you huge success with this project. It's a subject I care about.
