Introduce Yourself : Hello world by Deji Bankole

Deji Bankole

Hello world

Hey Stage 32! My name is Deji(day-g) I am an aspiring Director based out of LA. I am looking to create immersive, thought provoking stories, aiming to leave audiences questioning their reality while exploring themes of identity, duality, and human transformation in a tech driven world.

I really enjoy thrillers, SciFi (especially near future), Action, Comedy. I am looking to collaborate with writers, producers, DPs, VFX artists, production designers ok maybe just everybody. I am going to start making shorts real soon if you are interested in finding out more.

Hit me up if the above sounds like you or if you just want to say hi and connect!

Hey, Deji Bankole. Great to meet you. Welcome to the community. Here's a blog that'll help you navigate Stage 32 and connect with other creatives and industry pros: www.stage32.com/blog/how-to-successfully-navigate-the-stage-32-platform-...

Action is one of the main genres I write. I like writing Thriller, Sci-Fi, and Comedy too. I mix genres a lot, like Horror Action and Horror Comedy.

Jon Shallit

Have a free short for you if you are interested. Added you on here.

Richard "RB" Botto

Great IY post, Deji Bankole. Fantastic to have you and your talents in the community.

Deji Bankole

Maurice Vaughan Thanks for the blog post rec. I love a good action movie and i am curious to learn more on what goes into it practically i.e. fight choreo and sutch.

Also the blending and mixing of genres is always great and I feel like it shakes up some of the tropes. Like in "Barbarian" when Justin long comes on screen. I was like that's so random and hilarious.

Would love to pick your brain about how you write action scenes.

Deji Bankole

Jon Shallit Awesome I'd love to take a look. I'll send you a PM.

Deji Bankole

Richard "RB" Botto Thank you. Glad to be honing my talents in public. Even if slowly.

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Deji Bankole. I write action scenes like I write any scene. I figure out the goal of the scene, the conflict, the stakes, the twist (sometimes I don't know the twist until I'm writing the scene/after I write the scene), the props, etc.

And I only write important things in the action lines. Writers don't have to write every little detail about what's going on an action scene (or any scene).

I like to write short action lines in action scenes since they speed up the read.

Stage 32 has a Cinematography Lounge (www.stage32.com/lounge/cinematography). You could make a post asking about what goes into Action movies.

Sam Rivera

great to meet you! you should check out the other lounges like cinematography lounge!

Maurice Vaughan Yea that makes sense that the script is supposed to be a quicker read and should probably not be bogged down with a lot of details like that. Yea, I'll check that out.

Deji Bankole

Sam Rivera Thanks for the tip ill check that out for sure

Deji Bankole

Sydney S Hey thank you for sending the link I'll check it out .

Maurice Vaughan

Yeah, you're right, Deji Bankole. There are times when I write long action lines to slow down action scenes, like when I'm building up to a big event or creating suspense.

Actually, a post about what goes into Action movies probably fits better in the Filmmaking/Directing Lounge (www.stage32.com/lounge/directing). Directing and cinematography go hand in hand, so that's probably why I was thinking about the Cinematography Lounge in my last comment.

Sydney S

Happy to help :)

Hi Deji Bankole! Welcome and absolutely. I think "questioning their reality while exploring themes of identity, duality, and human transformation in a tech-driven world" is something I do on a daily basis. Stealthily.
