Hey folks!
I’m Lindsay Thompson, a cinematographer and producer in Greensboro, NC, and owner of SparkCreate Studios. I’m an ASC Masterclass graduate with over 10 years of experience behind the camera, and I love running teach-while-we-shoot sets where emerging artists can jump in and learn. I also moderate the Cinematography Lounge and I am sharing a multi-part series on the cinematographer’s process.
Some of my fun past lives:
I competed in canine disc sports (which led to the production of my first feature film, Fly High: Story of the Disc Dog) and strongwoman. Both taught me timing, problem-solving, and calm under pressure, which I bring to every set. I’m also a long-time writer and prop tinkerer who turns thrift finds into camera-ready pieces.
Recent work includes the sci-fi short Atlas Falling and a slate of shorts and features in development. I’m also laying the groundwork for an NC sound stage and training hub, and I would love to connect with anyone who has built stages or managed studio spaces.
Looking to connect with:
writers, directors, producers (especially in the Southeast), plus fellow prop nerds, effects makeup artists, and stage builders.
Drop where you’re based, what you’re working on, and one thing you need help with this month. Let’s make some good stuff together!
The photo is a Pixar-style family portrait: me, Donnette, and our five dogs.

Hey, Lindsay Thompson. That's pretty cool you competed in canine disc sports and strongwoman! I'm guessing in canine disc sports it's double training. The person and the dog.
I'm based in Greenville, NC. I'm rewriting two feature scripts and outlining another. I'll need feedback on a script once I finish rewriting it. I should be done by the end of the month or before. I plan on getting feedback from different people and Stage 32.

Oh yeahMaurice Vaughan! Canine disc takes a lot of work for both dog and handler. I still play here and there, but not quite as competitively as I once did. I'm waiting on our puppy, Toast, to get old enough that he can play top tier but do so safely.
That's so exciting about the script! Congrats on all the work you're pulling in! That's awesome!

Thanks, Lindsay Thompson. My condolences. Toast is a great name! I want to write a Canine disc script now. A Canine disc script with a twist.

My husband would love all of your dogs, Lindsay! We live in Canada (beautiful British Columbia). You said you're working on a sci-fi short ... Is that your favourite genre to work on? One of my personal writing projects is a fantasy/sci-fi/romance feature based on the Greek myth of Selene. (I have some comedies and dramas in the works as well.) I'm doing well on the writing part of my "career" (if you can call it that yet, lol) ... now I'm working on putting myself out there, trying to see if I can find representation or enter some screenwriting contests.

Oh Lindsay Thompson, I loved this Introduction from yourself. And your dogs, wow, beautiful family. I had Corky, a Portuguese Water Dog, she was my daughter and my biggest company. She is in heaven now, but do you know that she was my bodyboard partner and she used to jump to the board and make surf in it :))) I introduced her as one character on my first script, but later on I had to take her off :( But I will write a character for her in a new script :)) Can we watch Atlas Falling? I would love to see it. Happy IYW :))

Hey Lindsay Thompson ! I love it that you're a dog lover. It seems like this year's been a tough one for us and Sandra Correia. We lost our yorkie in February. She was the first dog I gave to our daughter and I still miss her so much. Happy IY weekend friend!

Kaitlyn Kiesling I love most aspects of sci-fi, but it's not what I would consider my genre of choice. I love most genres in film, so I go with what feels right for a given project. I've written everything from drama, sci-fi, and thrillers to comedies and satire. I love filmmaking all around!
British Columbia was one of my favorite places to visit! I was a HUGE X-Files fan when I was a teen, and being able to see many of the filming locations was a dream!

Sandra Correia Super fun and super cute pupper! I love that!
My first dog of my own was a boxer named Eko. She was my heart and soul. She left us 3 years ago but man, was she my everything! She was also the inspiration for my first feature documentary film.
If you'd like to watch Atlas Falling, hopefully this link will come through. :-)

Leonardo Ramirez My condolences my friend. It truly doesn't get easier. We lost two more of ours over the last two years and it's just as difficult each time. But they make our lives richer and fuller while they're here. Happy IYW!

Thank you my friends Maurice Vaughan and Leonardo Ramirez . Corky passed away four years ago, but it seems like she’s here always :))) I am so sorry for Yorkie loss Leo. I find it funny that Corky and Yorkie are accent similar names ahahah

Greetings from a former NC resident. I also competed in canine sports, but quit because I was not as fast catching the Frisbee as the four legged competition.
