Introduce Yourself : Looking for Screenwriting Collaboration by Don Sano

Looking for Screenwriting Collaboration

Hello Everyone,

I am a director, producer, and screenwriter. I am so appreciative of Stage 32 for hosting this "Introduce Yourself" event -- and hope you all enjoy successful networking this weekend (and beyond).

I am currently looking for a compatible fellow screenwriter to collaborate on a project I am developing -- especially a filmmaker who's also interested in teaming up for film production. The genre is Comedy/Gangster in the vein of "Get Shorty" (/or any of Guy Ritchie's British gangster films like "RocknRolla", "Snatch", and "The Gentlemen", etc.).

If interested in discussing this further --- please send me a message.

Thanks for your time and consideration and thanks again to Stage 32 for this opportunity to network with such talented individuals.

Hi, Don Sano. Hope you're doing great! Stage 32 has a blog that'll help you connect with creatives and industry professionals all over the world. Screenwriters, producers, directors, and more. www.stage32.com/blog/the-importance-of-community-and-collaboration-in-th...

And the next Community Open House is August 27th. It’ll also help you connect with creatives and industry pros. There's going to be a live Q&A. You can sign up for free here: www.stage32.com/education/products/stage-32-s-august-community-open-house Even if you can't make it live, sign up and you’ll get the recording in your Education Library when it’s available.

You could also make a collaboration post on the Job Board (www.stage32.com/find-jobs).

I suggest using a photo of yourself as your profile picture. People will feel more comfortable networking and collaborating with you if they know what you look like. You can upload a picture by clicking the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and selecting “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu, then clicking the red button underneath your location and choosing "Update profile picture."

Nice to meet you Don Sano. I"m curious what the inspiration was for your script/film?

Richard "RB" Botto

Sure you're already inundated, Don Sano, so I'll just say, fantastic to have you here and wishing you all the best with the project.

Amanda Toney

Sounds like a great project! What tv shows or movies have you been watching lately that have inspired you?

Hi Don Sano, it’s great to meet you! I’m Ashley, the Head of Community here at Stage 32. Thanks so much for joining us for Introduce Yourself Weekend and for taking the time to share what you’re working on, your project sounds like a lot of fun, and I’m sure your style will resonate with fans of Snatch and The Gentlemen.

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend checking out the Writer’s Room, it’s one of the best ways to build long-term collaboration with other serious screenwriters, producers, and execs. You can explore it with a free month here:

https://www.stage32.com/writers-room/plans-vip

You might also want to reach out to our Success Team at Success@stage32.com. Let them know more about your goals, and they’ll help connect you with members and resources that align with your vision.

And finally, I’d love to personally invite you to our Free Community Open House on Wednesday, August 27th, it’s a great way to get to know the Stage 32 landscape and learn how to maximize the platform. Here’s the link to sign up for free:

Also, just to echo Maurice’s great advice, swapping your profile photo from a logo to a real picture of yourself really does make a difference. Many members tend to engage more when they can see who they’re connecting with, especially when it comes to potential collaborators.

Wishing you all the best with your script and search for the right creative partner!

Alexandra Stevens--

(Inspiration for script?): Always liked films which blend comedic aspects into action/horror/gangster genres. As for this specific script, I suppose I was intrigued by the idea of someone 'pushed over the edge' into doing things they would never have imagined.

Amanda Toney--

(inspiring films seen recently?): Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019), The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976), The Stranger (2022), I Think We're Alone Now (2018)

... what films/shows have inspired you?

Amanda Toney

some good choices there! I recently watched the Bourne movies and loved them!

Your project sounds fantastic — I love the idea of a Comedy/Gangster in the style of Get Shorty and Guy Ritchie films. I’m sure you’ll find a talented screenwriter and collaborator who’s excited to help bring your vision to life.

Wishing you all the best in making connections this week and beyond! Stage 32 is such a wonderful community for finding like-minded creatives, and it sounds like your project is going to be a lot of fun!
