Hello Stage 32 members!
My name is Elle. I'm a prose and poetry author turned screenwriter. I like to explore complex themes that blend horror into the human condition. I write very lean and mean
About 13 years ago, I left the prose world. I had made publications and sales, but no big break. At that time, the novella was a very hard sell and self publishing held a stigma. The novella was, of course, my game.
An editor told me "This would be a great screenplay. It reads like a screenplay missing stage directions. I'd watch this." I was very flattered, of course, but... I knew nothing about writing screenplays.
I was so daunted by the differences then that I didn't bother to try.
A bad spot of writer's block (congestion - not a true block) and here I am, a decade later, trying to write a screenplay in a world where CeltX doesn't have their desktop application anymore.
It's great to be back writing again and I look forward to meeting you all across the lounge.

Mike, I will check that one out! I've heard good things about Fade In fade out, software but that's largely been from online research. I like personal recommendations, so much appreciated.

Welcome, Elle! Your background as a novelist and poet sounds wonderful, especially with your focus on deep, human themes. I’m currently developing a sci-fi concept called Two Faces of the Moon, and I think your ability to write with depth and complexity could be amazing for shaping characters and emotions. Maybe we could exchange ideas or even collaborate. Great to meet you here!

Tahoura Sheikholeslami, I wanted to be a dear artist. Instead, I became a crazy songwriter.

Honored to meet you Elle Bolan! Like you, I made the journey from prose to script and I've loved every second of it. The move was prompted by a couple of friends who encouraged me to do it - one said my prose writing was cinematic so I gave it a shot and never looked back. Do you find that it's "more you" than prose? Glad you're with us!

Elle Bolan Welcome and welcome back to the world of writing after a hiatus. But sometimes that's what you need, you gotta live through a story to then be able to tell one.
Wishing you All the Best with your writing.
