Introduce Yourself : New to Stage 32 by Deborah Rosenfeld

New to Stage 32

Started writing before COVID with a younger friend who had a degree in Film . It started out as something fun but I became fascinated by the process. We took screenwriting classes together at a local university. My writing partner left 2 years ago to live in Paris to pursue other interests.

I joined a writers group that meets once a week. I have written 2 pilots and working on a feature. My work now is so different than when I was collaborating. I think I am finding my own voice.

What's your favorite genre(s) to write?

Deborah Rosenfeld

I have written comedy and drama. I'm not sure I have a favorite. I have only written 2 pilots ( one was a comedy). Currently working on a mystery, crime feature drawing on my background in forensic pathology

I love watching Mystery Crime movies, Deborah Rosenfeld! I have trouble writing Crime scripts sometimes. A background in forensic pathology must be really helpful.

You could post your scripts on your profile. Producers search profiles for projects. That and networking are how I sold four short scripts to a producer. Click the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and select “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu. Scroll down to “Loglines” and click “Add/edit loglines” to the right of “Loglines.” You can also post your scripts on your profile this way: www.stage32.com/loglines (near the top where it says “Add a Logline”)

Hi Deborah Rosenfeld - welcome to Stage32! and congrats on completing your 2 pilots. So wonderful to hear you've 'fallen' for the process - I wonder if your background in forensics primed you for this kind of a story/character development journey :)

What's the plan with your pilots? have you put together pitch material for them yet?

Deborah Rosenfeld

Yes it has. Since I am writing on my own , I am drawing on my past lives for interesting stories and characters .

Sebastian Tudores

that's wonderful and makes sense Deborah Rosenfeld - excited to see what's up ahead for you!

Deborah Rosenfeld, welcome to the wonderful world of Stage 32 where the coffee is not bad and the donuts are usually fresh. I am an American who got permanently lost in Europe. I would enjoy hearing about your writing. Best wishes from Germany.

What are your finished projects about, Deborah Rosenfeld?

Ashley Renée Smith

Hi Deborah Rosenfeld, welcome to Stage 32! I’m Ashley, Head of Community here, and I love hearing how your journey evolved from a fun collaboration into a true creative passion. It’s so inspiring that you kept going after your writing partner moved and have since found your own voice.

I’d recommend joining the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting) to regularly share your experiences and connect with other writers who are also refining their voices and projects. I also see that you’re a Writer’s Room member and the weekly events, as well as the Writer’s Room Lounge, are great ways to continue learning and growing. It’s a space where the more involved you get, the more you progress and build a strong support system to help along your journey.

It sounds like you’ve built a strong foundation already, and I can’t wait to see what stories come next for you!
