I'm working on a Horror feature Script about a serial killer. Im slowly moving into indie films because I haven't had any success with my Studio Level Scripts. Right now I'm on the researching stage.

Hi @Jason! It's great to meet you. I dabble in both horror and sci-fi too. I don't think we've run across each other yet, so I wanted to say hello and thank you for reintroducing yourself. Hope you have a lovely holiday!

Looking forward to hearing more about your script when you're ready to share the details, Jason Peralta! Hope you have success in the indie market! There are a lot of indie producers and directors on Stage 32.

I wish I could afford those prices. It's a bit risky as having a meet up with one of your producers won't guarantee any success. I might have to do 9 of them to get anything going. Thanks for the opportunity though.

Hi Jason Peralta, nice to meet you! Congrats on the features and shorts, especially with accolades under your belt. Horror and sci-fi (and the mix of both) is always a great lane. Very cool that you’re also putting out motivational content. Cheers and looking forward to connecting.

Thank you all. We all want success and I believe networking is key. Producers who love my Scripts just as much as I do is the perfect match I'm trying to find. Thanks Maurice Vaughan I will look into it.

Hello Jason Peralta, nice to meet another very talented person on the platform. I envy your achievements, as I intend to have scripts for a TV drama very soon, after publishing my 2nd book in a series of 3. Have a lovely festive season out there

Thanks Beverly Thompson for the compliment. To be fair, the contests I won weren't well known. It was just an assurance that my writing is getting better. I just dedicated myself to writing everyday, even the days that I'm working. Everything is a sacrifice. As my writing matured, I'm now joining the more well known contests but that also comes with greater competition. It's just one of the many tools you can use to open doors for you. There's also displaying your work on multiple platforms like this one. Isa Network, Movie Bytes, Script Revolution, Ink tip, and Screenwriting Staffing are excellent ones as well. Just keep writing, keep putting your work out there, and keep networking. That's all you can do. Your success and when you'll get there is not up to any of us. Happy Holidays everyone!

Hi Jason, welcome! It’s great to meet another Sci-Fi writer here. I’ve just recently signed a co-writer agreement for a premium sci-fi pilot called 'THE PHOENIX' with Jay A. Swendris, so I know how exciting it is to be working in this genre right now. Congratulations on your 10 years of writing and your accolades—that’s a serious achievement. Looking forward to seeing more of your work around here. I noticed you mentioned mixing Horror with your Sci-Fi. When you are building your worlds, do you find it's easier to start with the 'science' logic first, or do you lead with the 'thriller' elements to hook the audience? Cheers!

Salisu Abdullahi Well, my last feature Script "Sting" is a perfect example. It started out as a Horror based on killer insects because I'm well aware of people's fear of insects. But how will they become killer insects? That's when the Science Fiction has to kick in because we don't yet posses that level of technology to accidentally create large killer insects that can chop a person in half with it's mandibles.

That makes total sense, Jason! Using Sci-Fi to bridge the gap between a grounded fear and a larger-than-life threat is brilliant. I’m taking a similar approach with 'THE PHOENIX'—using precise electromagnetic science to justify the high-stakes 'frequency' logic in our world. It really helps the audience buy into the danger when the 'how' feels technically sound. Thanks for sharing that example from 'Sting'—I’ll definitely keep that balance in mind as we finish the pilot!

I'm a Horror/Sci-Fi kid myself. I grew up watching those genres with my late mother and to me, they have some of the greatest films of all time under their umbrella. Glad to have you in the Stage 32 community. Feel free to reach out to success@stage32.com and they can help with all the latest on what we have to offer than can take your work to the next level. Cheers!

@suzannebronson I haven't come across a lot of great Science Fiction shows. But if I had to choose one, it would be West World. Season 1 was especially brilliant. I aspire to write Science Fiction flicks like Dredd, Aliens, and Starship Troopers.
